We cant run, protect the QB or get to our opponents QB.
Vince Lombardi couldn't win under those circumstances.

We try to win 1 on 1 battles and don't bring a lot of creativity to our blocking schemes.

If your talent isn't all that great on Oline and you want to play vanilla and just win 1 on 1 battles then you're a stubborn fool just asking for whats coming.

It's probably the hangover effect of the Patriots schooling teams with inferior talent for a few years there.

But I think the idea is to find the guys that are both the right kind and have sufficient talent. It's moving up for Claiborne instead of staying put and picking up Janoris Jenkins later. It's signing Brandon Carr and not Cortland Finnegan. It's going aggressively after Kyle Orton when he's available. These aren't moves to subordinate talent, they're moves to get both talent and attitude, because you believe both are important.

Good post. Say what you want about Dez Bryant but thank goodness we have a guy like that who is an absolute pittbull on the field.

No kidding. It's amazing how that totally anti-RKG Martellus Bennett, a guy we couldn't possibly deal with and who by the way was worthless for anything but blocking, is coming up so big for the Giants. Apparently he's not so impossible for Tom Coughlin, who is only as big as hard *** as any coach in the league.

And for that matter, how about Dez? Would anyone trade him for some spare WR with a boy scout upbringing right now?

Yeah. Definitely. That's something that gets misunderstood a lot with the RKG stuff. Bryant's personality presents some challenges, but you need guys with his temperament, too. It's not having 53 team captains. You can have rough personalities; they need to be committed to subordinating for the team and leaving it all out on the field, every play.

To be fair, if Bennett had played for the Cowboys like he's played for the Giants, he'd probably still be a Cowboy, RKG or no.

You don't think that has anything with the way he was utilized here?

If Jason Witten were also on the Giants do you think Bennett's production stays what it is or dips severely? or does the fact he was a backup here but a starter there not factor into your thinking at all?

If you have someone capable of making plays, why not use him? Starter or backup.

Pats have Gronk and yet Hernandez is a major part of their offense.

Their GM publicly said that they brought MB to be blocking TE in first and foremost and anything else was just a bonus.

We miss his abilities in blocking.

So what exactly is he doing that is improved under Coach Coughlin?

How is he coming up so big for the Giants?

This may upset some people, but I don't see Witten at Gronkowski's level right now, and Bennett will never be at Hernandez's level. Tom Brady is on another level above most QBs.

One thing can be sure... He was way more of a presence than Phillips is on this team, in the same role...

    Sloppy play
    mistakes
and gameplans that get thrown out the window by halftime of every game
    team plays up and down

Yeah those are reasons to keep him

Is this a trick question, Bluestang?

They're giving him a chance to catch some passes. They're not acting as if he's nothing but a third OT.

He's caught as many TDs in a few months as he did in four years here, and through 12 games he's caught almost 50% more passes than he did in his very best year here.

I'm not sure what you're even trying to get at, other than somehow trying to defend Garrett.

he is the starter there now right? So of course he is going to get a lot more receptions. But he certainly is not as important to the NYG offense as Witten is to ours.
