    COWBOYS FREE AGENCY SITUATION
    UNRESTRICTED FAs Archer's analysis
LB Victor Butler Can be a situational pass rusher but not an every-down player
CB Michael Coe Late-season pickup is unlikely to be back
DE Kenyon Coleman Age and injury make his future dicey but could be a one-year guy
OG Derrick Dockery In his final days in the NFL
SS Eric Frampton Good in-season pickup, who might be worth a look next year
CB Mike Jenkins Wants a chance to start and won't get it here
RB Felix Jones Never panned out but played hurt, so don't rule out a return at low price
LS L.P. Ladouceur Will not cost a lot to keep and excellent at his job
P Brian Moorman Decent job but Chris Jones returns next season
WR Kevin Ogletree Lost playing time as year went on, doubtful return
SS Charlie Peprah Might be worth a look in camp with injuries at position
TE John Phillips Lost playing time as year went on, but can fill number of roles
LB Brady Poppinga Great quote but will not be back in 2013
LB Ernie Sims Good pickup but future here low with returns of Sean Lee, Bruce Carter
LB Anthony Spencer Will be one of most sought-after FAs if he hits the open market
    RESTRICTED FAs Archer's analysis
C Phil Costa Season lost due to injury but coaches like him a lot
SS Danny McCray Got exposed on defense but solid special teamer
DE Brian Schaefering Finding serviceable lineman is hard, could be back at low price

I think Spencer will be back, though maybe with the franchise tag again.

I'd guess Frampton returns to camp as he's a core ST player and the staff trusts him more than McCray playing snaps at Safety.

Costa is back to compete at OC. LP is back deep snapping.

I'd like to see Sims back at LB for sure, but he may get a higher offer away. Probably worth looking at Peprah once more at TC if he comes cheap.

M Jenkins will get paid quite a bit away. And I'm not sure what the staff want to do with F Jones. But I think they may look for an alternative in the Draft/FA.

I don't think Jenkins will be sought out like everyone thinks. He had how many ints? And have injury issues. He won't command alot, numbers don't back up his case

That's everyone in the secondary except Sensy, Jenkins and Carr...Our rook CB is the worst at the fainting tackle routine.

I'd like to see Sims stay and contribute. He certainly has speed and seems to fly all over the place and has passion to play the game accordingly after perhaps taking it for granted in the past.

I too hope that we can retain Sims. With his recent play, I think there are some other teams who would covet him to start.

There's no guarantee with Lee and Carter, both are damaged goods, and neither should be counted upon to complete a full season.

This. He can cover but his tackling is beyond atrocious.

The only way I'd consider keeping Sims is if they draft a huge space eater in the 1st round. Sims got lost a lot and had a difficult time fighting through blocks.

He is a nice backup but I think they should focus on LBs who are more suitable for the 3-4.

    Is that possible?

I thought the new CBA states a player can not be Franchised more than once.

Lee, Carter, Simms, Ware...I'd love to see all of them in the 4-3 with Spencer, Crawford, Hatcher at DE and Lissemore and Ratliff at DT.

But I know everyone is sick of the 3-4/4-3 discussion. The 4-3 produces a better pass rush with better contain, and I'd love to see Ware as the fifth man blitzing from OLB.

Someone running a 4-3 will covet Simms.
