2011 NFL SCOUTING COMBINE: PROJECTED WORKOUT WARRIORS Here is our look at those we expect to “light it up” at Indianapolis and see their stock increase as we head into the pro days. http://www.jbscouting.com/index.php/blog/1610-projected-combine-freaks WR Edmond Gates, Abilene Christian- Gates is simply going to dominate at Indianapolis. His hands, better than expected route running, 10-yard time, 40-yard dash, vertical, and broad jump tests should impress. We expect a 4.3 40 to go along with 38 or more inches in the vertical along with an elite 10-yard split and even very good short shuttle and 3-cone times. The Combine should be the start of the media finally jumping on the Gates bandwagon we have been on since October. RB Taiwan Jones, Eastern Washington- He won’t workout at the Combine but if healthy he will probably put together the best workout of any running back in this draft as he could run 4.3s, jump around 40 inches, have 9-10 foot broad jump, and excel in every on field drill if he indeed worked out. It’s a shame but keep an eye on the Washington Pro Day where he is expected to workout and should start to get the media on his side. CB Buster Skrine, Chattanooga- His agent claims he will light it up and we believe him. Skrine is explosive, fast, changes direction very well, and has a better vertical than most believe. It would not surprise us to see him clock in the sub 4.3 range, jump 38-40 inches, and post some very good 3-cone and short shuttle times that should have scouts buzzing. If he was 6’0 200 pounds he would probably have 2nd-3rd round value after the Combine.
