He has the best gig in the NFL, he would be stupid to leave it.
I'd leave it in a second to GM an NFL team.
Kind of a misleading title,no? He didn't flat out say "No", just that right now, the timing isn't right. He may change his mind next year.
How misleading is it? He said, "No."
And in Aikman-speak, "I make too much money right now to consider going into the Cowboys den of Hell." lol
Aikman will get his shot, and it won't be in Dallas. I think he'll probably make a good one, too. Let's hope it's not someplace like Philly.
Aikman will never go to Dallas, because he won't have the authority to do his job.
He said he would like to make the move a la John Elway, but not just yet. I think he will be a very good executive for somebody one day.
Right, because we all know Troy is really an Eagles fan.
I mentioned PHI because they reportedly made a play for Troy at the end of his playing career, and he reportedly considered it.
I am wondering if anything could break my heart more than seeing Troy go build another franchise into a winner while the jones boys continue to dither.
frankly if i had a good reputation like Aikman i wouldnt be caught near the cowboys.
Maybe I missed it, but did someone ask Aikman to be a GM?
I think he confirmed that. He said the reason he didn't was because he was in california enjoying time in the sun, and the forecast for Philadelphia's next home game was in the 30s.
Even Troy said in an interview he knows he has the wrong last name to work in a FO/GM job for Dallas.
He is not a Jones. It will be the insane one Jerry till he dies & then the spawn of the insane one.
Listening to Joe Buck for 3 hours a day every week? I don't know about "best..."
NO. But Elway did it so all GOOD QB's from the 90's are now considered legit options. So don't look for Trent Dilfer to get any offers but Maybe McNabb.
What possible qualifications does Troy Aikman have to be a GM?
Couldn't help but think the same thing, although he couldn't be much worse than Jerry. I would hope he'd at least do better in the future than he did with his pick of TE David LeFleuer years ago when he was our QB..
Agreed - he was just saying no in a polite way to his old boss.
