WASHINGTON — Caroline Kennedy is interested in the Senate seat that would open once Hillary Rodham Clinton becomes secretary of state, according to a close relative who says the Kennedy clan is fully behind her rising to the office previously held by her Uncle Robert.

"I know she's interested," Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Friday.

Once Clinton is confirmed to President-elect Barack Obama's Cabinet, New York Gov. David Paterson will appoint someone to fill the seat for two years. Democrats said Caroline Ken nedy and Paterson have already spoken about the seat, and she is interested.

Kennedy is the daughter of President John F. Kennedy and a niece of brothers Edward and Robert.

If you check her credentials, you'll find someone who's been politically active for years.

Just like the nanny babe, Drescher. If they are a gigantic liberal, then they are just fine.

The only qualification for office is how liberal you are. Example: Obama the socialist liberal beats Clinton the progressive liberal. See, its easy to understand.:D

At this point, with the current stuff going on in Illinois, they might be better off bringing someone in from out of state to take the Senate seat.:laugh1:

She's never been a mayor, state senator, state house member, governor,lt.governor, congresswoman, cabinet member, her credentials are she's a well known Democrat related to a former president.

Same credentials that Hillary Clinton ran on in 2000 however.

Being liberal and a Kennedy means to the MSM and other liberals that you are qualified to run for any office.

Good point, any yokel should be a senator, we should hold e-bay auctions for it and let it go to the highest bidder...oh wait.

Some of you guys are funny: You complain bitterly about corrupt career politicians, and then when someone comes along who is not a politician, you complain that they aren't experianced at it. ;)

In response to the title of this thread, no...Sarah Palin is not qualified. The majority of American voters have already decided this. But rest assured, she will be given another chance at national politics at some point in her lifetime. For her sake, it had better be before she loses her sex appeal among conservative voters. That was the one thing she had going for her during the McCain campaign.

Wait! The American voters decided SHE wasn't qualified?

    But Obama was?

    That was their decision?

Well, let's put it this way. One is going to be the next U.S. president in January 2009. The other will be keeping an eye on the Russians from her house. I hope this answers your question.

You know she never said that. You apparently use Saturday Night Live as your main source of information.

SNL was probably a more accurate assessment of her qualifications than anything pumped out by the GOP and Dittoland. But I will give credit for Palin playing up the Dittohead role, as those type of voters weren't exactly enthused about McCain's limp campaign. For that, she gets brownie points. But anyone with a brain could see right through that ploy. It was a cheap injection by McCain in order to garner Dittohead support.

Funny you say that... Lorne Michaels, after her visit to SNL, said that he didn't agree with her politics and had reservations about her, but she came into enemy territory and won them over. He said she was highly intelligent and easy to like and she wasn't being portrayed fairly in the media...

    So...
