BREAKING: Joe DeCamillis will be Bears assistant head coach, special teams coordinator, sources say.

DeCamillis had interviewed for head coaching job.

Not saying it won't happen but I'm told the deal of Joe DeCamillis to Chicago as asst. HC and ST coach is not yet done.

It's not clear yet whether Cowboys have given DeCamillis permission to go. Blocked him from Oakland last year.

Quite the all star coaching staff the bears are putting together. Can you imagine this board if we hired a head coach out of the CFL?

They'll have a top 5 special teams unit next year.

    Why?

Talented players on special teams including one of the greatest return men of all time.

    Funny how that works.

We blocked him last year -- I think though you have to let him go at this point. I wonder what the feeling on Boniol is - if he is ready to take over or not

    Wooooohoooooo!

Just like a Garrett-led team. A necessary is change is made only when something out of his control forces his hand.

People want Joe D gone...willing to drive him or fly him somewhere else and so on.

And I think his teams have went down hill the last couple of years.

But even during his worst year with the Cowboys...it was still better units than what we had with the coach before him.

So just a warning...as bad as the ST unit has been and the ST Coach has been (if you think it has been really bad)...it could actually get worse with another coach being brought in...we could go back to what we had before him.

Reminds me of an old saying in the Army. Your current duty station is the worst and the one you are getting ready to go to is the best.
It is just another grass is always greener on the other side of the hill/fence saying and many times we find out that the grass is not better and in many cases it can be worse.

Just something to keep in mind.

Actually the team can control this. They can block him from leaving as he is under contract. I suspect they knew he'd draw interest and just let it play out -- far better for a guy's career than getting fired.

Warning for you: It could actually get better as well.

And yes it has been really bad. The blocked punts, the missed assignments, the unnecessary squib kicks, the horrible return game until Harris emerged, etc. Harris and Bailey saved Joe D from looking worse.
