IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys could be looking for Dan Bailey to handle all of the kicking chores Monday vs. Washington at Cowboys Stadium with David Buehler battling a groin strain.

Buehler was not on the injury report Thursday but he has not worn his kicking shoes to practice the last two days during the time the session was open to the media. Friday’s practice dealt mostly with punt returns, so he was not really needed.

Nine out of 10 kickoffs so far have resulted in our opponents starting at their own 22 or closer to their own end zone. If Bailey has to kick off, let's hope the results are similar.

Yes, you can. There are just certain rules that apply regarding how much they get paid.

You can cut any player, injured or not. If you cut an injured player you will have pay an injury settlement.

'Waived injured' means the team is releasing the player but the player is injured. The team is responsible to pay the player until his injury has healed. This is usually done by reaching an agreement for a specific amount of money, called an injury settlement. Other teams are allowed to pick up players on the waived injured list but they are forewarned that the player is not in condition to play. Sometimes, if a player on the waived injured list is not selected by another team, the team will retain the player and place him on its injured reserve list.

This is not good at all. That Banks guy they have is very fast and very good when given a chance to make a return. If we have Bailey kicking to the 5 yardline, they will be starting on their 40 or better at least twice and maybe more.

He was probobly going to be inactive on Monday anyway. McGee needs to be active this week.

I want McCann back (or another position player) but Dan Bailey missed a 22-yd FG last week and didn't kickoff well enough to put Buehler away in camp. Now is not the time to cut him.

Great...hope that this doesnt mean that they are looking to add another K.

The two kicker thing really needs to go...pick the best all around guy and get on with it.

boy i hope so. I heard he didn't kick off in college. Is that true?

I would hate to have to keep 2 kickers even if he is one of them. We need to find 1 kicker and go with it.

I rather have an extra linebacker on the active roster to take sean lee spot on special teams. Sean Lee is beast mode on our defense. I wouldn't want to imagine how we would look with james and brookings starting almost the whole game:eek::

Our KO coverage has been excellent, other than that squib kick vs SF that got run back to midfield.

What worries me is can Bailey physically handle both duties?

I don't think Beuhler will be on this team much longer. The rule change was strike one. Strike 2: All the Cowboy injuries put his roster spot under the miroscope. Strike 3: he can't even stay healthy as a kicker. Hip strain. Groin strain. And several of his kicks have ben really bad.

    He'll be gone soon.

I'd much rather have McCann on the roster instead of Buehler. I think Bailey can kickoff fine with the new rule change.

Unfortunately, Bailey can only reach the same distance by kicking line drives. We are really going to be hurting on kickoffs with him and I predict people will be ready to cut him after this game.

The one thing that might help, is that he's kicking in Cowboys Stadium so no worry over wind.

Might be the best thing that could happen, as far as quieting all the complaining about Buehler, if Bailey has to kick off.

I don't want to see it because I think the Redskins will get at least one big return off his lower and shorter kicks.

If not, if Bailey is able to cause touchbacks or put enough air under the ball that the coverage team is able to stop the Redskins inside the 20, then I'll gladly join in with the "Buehler should be cut" crowd.
