You don't seem like you would be a NBA fan ABQ. that's cool that you are.

But why oh why are you a Laker fan? Uggghhh

The NBA has been back for about a week and already two of the top stories are negative. A young, elite player in the league has to retire from injuries, and David Stern is sabotaging a small market team.

Can they just go back to being in a lockout? I liked the league better that way..

I have been a basketball fan since I was a boy. I didn't play Basketball in HS but I played a lot of pickup Basketball with guys that did play. I love the game.

I didn't start out as a Laker fan Catch. I actually started out as a Washington Bullets fan. I am from the Houston area and was a big fan of Elvin Hayes back in the day. The Bullets were kinda going away and I watched Buck and Larry Bird go at it in the NCAA championship in 79 and I became a huge Magic fan. I already hated the Sixers from their rivalry with the Bullets and because anything Philly is bad Juju as a Cowboy fan so when Magic put up 42/15 and 7 playing 5 different positions in the deciding game (without Kareem) the deal was sealed for me. I was a Magic fan for life and that meant the Lakers. The epic battles between the Celts and the Lakers only solidified that for me. We moved to New Mexico from Texas when I was a kid and Michael Cooper (L.A. Lakers) played at UNM and one of my coaches was a guy named Pete Gibson. Gibson and Cooper played together and I got a lot of opportunities to meet Cooper and even play bball with him. It was cool. I am also a Tar Heel College Basketball fan and when the Lakers picked up James Worthy, it was like destiny. I had no choice after that. I guess that's why.

Dang that sucks. He was a really good player when healthy. Sad to hear that.

I've always just been a fan of good basketball, so I've bounced around rooting for different teams. I've most recently been a fan of the Lakers because I really liked the triangle offense and I've been a big fan of Kobe Bryant's attitude and competitive drive, and his game of course.

I rooted for the Heat last year because I wanted to see them win in Dan Gilbert's face. This year I don't care. The Chris Paul situation and the league treating the Hornets and Dell Demps like an asset instead of a team has me losing all faith in the league. It's a joke, and it makes all of the allegations of referees swaying the outcome of games seem all the more plausible.

I bandwagon on NBA teams as well. Currently, I am a Lakers fan. I've never liked the heat though. Last year just made me dislike them even more.

Marc Stein said yesterday he expects the trade to go through, even if slightly altered. I tend to agree with him. There's just been too much backlash about this when the trade actually made sense for all parties involved.
