Earlier today, we looked at sixteen players who were being worked out by the Dallas Cowboys. Now the word is that Dallas has signed one of them to the 53-man roster.

The latest player to join defensive line coach Rod Marinelli and the Dallas Cowboys "rushmen" is former Carolina Panther Corvey Irvin. A product of the University of Georgia, Irvin became the 93rd player selected in the 2009 NFL Draft when the Carolina Panthers selected him in the third round. During his two seasons as a Bulldog (Irvin was a transfer from Georgia Military College) he played in a total of 26 games, including 10 starts. Along the way he recorded 48 tackles including 11 for a loss. Playing in the middle of the Georgia defensive line, Corvey accounted for three sacks, six quarterback pressures and three passes defensed. He also forced a fumble for the Bulldogs.

After turning pro, Irvin spent his "rookie" season on injured reserve after tearing the MCL in his right knee during the final preseason game of 2009. The following season, the 6'2" 298-pound defensive tackle spent the first 13 games of the year as a member of the Panthers practice squad before being placed on the teams 53-man roster. He was able to record five tackles in the two games he participated in that season.

Released by Carolina, Irvin found himself a part of first the Detroit Lions and then the Jacksonville Jaguars. While in Jacksonville, he appeared in four games and recorded just one tackle. From there Irvin made the short trip to Tampa Bay to join the Buccaneers for the 2012 football season. It was his most active season as a professional. Corvey appeared in 12 games for the Bucs and recorded six tackles. Following the season, he once again moved on, this time becoming a Chicago Bear, but he was released prior to the start of the 2013 season, where he remained until being signed on Tuesday by the Dallas Cowboys.
