Another thing I haven't seen Romo do as much is his shoulder move. He used to burn the DBs on "SLUGO" route using this fake throw move. I know we used it against the Saints to get the TD with TWill but I haven't seen it much before that this year

I know for sure Romo was hurt early in the Detroit game. But that does not explain away some of what has gone on this year. His stats are fantastic and the team is near the top of the league in scoring (in part due to turnover margin improvement), but something is no quite right.

I pull for the guy and do think a team with a good run game and respectable defense can win a SB with him....so I usually defend him when people say extreme things like he stinks or is not good enough to win with.

But I remained cautiously nuetral on the large contract extension. The arguments both for and against it have merit. Tying that kind of long term money up on one guy who is not named Rodgers or Luck is a bit scary.

As always, I'm pulling for him in a big way. Hopefully some of the kinks get ironed out and this is not a physical thing. A bad game here or there is normal for all players and as we all know, this is not tennis or golf; These guys totally rely on their teammates to succeed.
But he can do better--we've seen it.

Mods please move this post and put it in the "Forever Blue" thread..

    ..and I agree with you.

but this is reaally starting to hurt..

..this constant wandering as a team..

    ..no direction on the field.

..a front office that builds wonderful stadiums but..

..then destroys the homefield advantage with mediocre after mediocre teams to follow.

..the last time this was occurring was when we had poor ownership and guys like Pueller were our QB and Landry was still here.

..so now we are left with the question..

..we have changed the HC now 3 times in the last 5 years.

    That's not been the answer..

we changed Bledsoe for Romo 6 years ago and that's not it.

..we can't change the GM because it's the owner.

Is it time to change the owner..?

Is it time for Jerrah to retire..?

Time to turn it all over to Stephen and lets clean house and really get a new infusion with this Franchise ?

    I think it is..

I've been seeing this for years. He isn't the answer at QB.

These type of misreads don't show up on his "stats" but they sure as hell make the difference between winning and losing.

something his (stat) defenders will never understand.

Lol, individual statistics indicate how well or how bad a player is performing. So if we were ranked as a top 10 passing defense statistically, instead of say, dead last, think that would help win games? Your post is a joke.

64.6% completion rate. Same as his career average.

Now, if you mean him having to watch the o-line so he knows where to run and not get sacked/injured, then ya, i agree he isnt getting to see downfield enough.

    I envy you.

Your post-seasons must be so gratifying.

Me, I just sulk around the house wishing that the Cowboys could half somehow gotten into the playoffs.
But as long as Tony Romo is posting great personal stats, maybe all is right with the world.

I can't argue with you fools. I can only point out so many times why stats don't equate to winning the game. You tony defenders are too stuck in your ways by this point..aka Jerry syndrome

Twill ran a hitch and go. A sluggo route is a slant and go. I haven't seen it much this year either.

But you know that stats don't always tell the whole story. And can be very misleading. The eye in the sky dot lie. An that's the only thing you can trust.

If you don't learn from history, you're doomed to repeat it. We need to draft a qb in round 1 next year unless you want to go through another Hutchinson qc testaverde, Henson, Ryan leaf, Anthony wright type scenario.

    That's my biggest fear.

The 5 QBs who have higher passer ratings than Romo have a combined record of 33-11.

What was that about stats not winning games again, Einstein Jr.?

I don't remember what Twill ran to be honest.

My post was more about Romo using shoulder fake move on double move routes more than the routes themselves . Reason I mentioned Slugo was because that's what Miles used to run to get big plays when Romo used his shoulder fake.

I'm hoping he goes back to it more.

He doesnt read defenses well, he is at his best when a play breaks down and he is improvising. The funny thing is we all use to get mad when players from the Giants and others teams would say it but the film doesnt lie.

Romo isn't the problem. But will he be part of the solution?

I don't think so. I don't think we'll be able to turn it around before he's gone.

Shocking... Romo cant read the field !

Been saying this since the summer of 2012.

If Kyle Orton got in the game, Romo would never take another meaningful snap in a cowboy uniform.

Romo hasn't been bad the last couple of games, romo has been bad every game out(preseason includeded) minus the Denver game.

He flat out cannot play anymore.

    You heard it here first...

Mistake: he was solid in cards preseason game
