One thing owner and general manager Jerry Jones has never shied away from is taking care of his own. If you are a core member of his football team, he will find a way to take care of that player financially.

Entering this season, a major piece had to be extended and that was linebacker Sean Lee. With just one year left on his rookie contract, the Cowboys made sure Lee would be a part of this team for the foreseeable future. Back in June, executive vice president Stephen Jones discussed how extending Lee was a priority due to his contract expiring at the end of the season.

"Historically, we look at guys going into the last years of their contracts," Jones said, "Sean is going into the last year of his contract, so that’s probably something we’ll look at."

Now that Lee's deal is in place, where does the front office turn their attention to next? Mike Fisher, a valid Cowboys source believes that there are three players due for extensions.

Don't complicate/confuse #cowboys ext biz. It's set in stone: Dez, Tyron, Bruce. In that order. NEXT summer. Clockwork

Fisher was also on the money back in July when he reported that the talks between the Cowboys and Lee were beginning to heat up.

Looking over the current roster, the young players who should be next in line are fairly obvious. A superstar wide receiver, a left tackle with the potential to become a cornerstone on the blind side and one of the most athletic linebackers in the league.

Considering each player will see their contract expire after the 2014 season, the front office will have their work cut out for them.

Dez Bryant: Bryant is really beginning to come into his own. The talent has always been there, but he's finally putting it all together and getting the mental side of the game down. It's not out of the realm of possibility to see him become one of the best wide receivers in the game.

Taking care of him should be a priority because he can be a focal point of the offense. We don't want to lose any of our players, but it would especially burn to see one leave that we took a chance on. He appears to love being a Dallas Cowboy and Jerry Jones seems to have a close relationship with him. This shouldn't be a hard process, because both sides want to be involved with each other.

Bruce Carter: I love me some Sean Lee, but Carter may be better or equally as good. His athleticism is off the charts and he can make plays all over the field. Like Lee, Carter needs to overcome his injury bug and stay healthy. Outside of the health, there won't be anything that can hold him back from becoming a serious playmaker in the NFL.

Locking up Carter guarantees that he will line up to Lee for a very long time. Each linebacker has a unique skill set and abilities that make playing next to each other special. Much like his counterpart, Carter is also a highly versatile linebacker that could play in the middle and on the outside. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite players on the team, so I would like to see him with the star on his helmet for years to come.

Tyron Smith: Smith is a very important piece of this team. He's by far the most talented offensive lineman on the roster and his youth is an added benefit. Smith still has a lot of growing and maturing left to do. At just 22 years old, he is one of the youngest players in the league and his ceiling is very high. He hasn't even began to tap into his potential yet and his best football is still ahead of him.

When he was drafted, the front office knew it would take a few years for him to enter his comfort zone. Once he reaches that, Smith could become a force on the line. Dallas cannot afford to lose a young offensive lineman who they drafted.

So BTB, who is next to receive an extension on the Cowboys? Have at it in the comment section and tell us who is up next.
