Also could he have gone 8-8 with Romo as his QB?
He went 5-11 with way worse talent. If Romo is as good as everyone claims then he should be worth 3 more wins, right?
Could Andy Reid with his? Tom Coughlin?
The NFL is a tough business. Only in Dallas is 8-8 the end of the world and a harkening back to the darkest days of the franchise.
To answer your question: no.
And not just Romo, but Demarcus Ware... Spencer... Dez... Lee... Witten...
That's what's funny about people saying this team lacks so much talent. Go look at those teams if you want to see true lack of talent.
Yes, I see Romo and a couple other players as the difference between 5-11 and 8-8 today. Garrett and Campo are interchangeable, both just steal oxygen.
I'll be sick of the wasted years given to Wade and Garrett when Jerry is forced to bring in someone competent, as he had to do with Parcells. I look forward to someone who knows what they are doing to get Romo to the next level.
Yes. I say 8-8. Gailey? maybe 9-7 Parcells? maybe 10-6 or 11-5
We lost about 5 games by just one or two plays. Baltimore, Atlanta, NY2nd, New Orleans, Washington2nd
He already is...
Yes, Heaven forbid expectations are a little higher for a team that spends as much as any other team and annually voices displeasure with average results.
You'll get no argument from me that expectations are too high for this team. Or that our fans are mostly whiney children when their expectations aren't met. Cue the 17-years-of-futility dirge.
What difference does it make if he could or could not?
That's six great players. Sure, we have more than that, but we also have a lot of average to poor players, including an OL full of players who have no business getting significant playing time.
Add in a ST's group that's nothing special, and you have a team that is top heavy, but not solid throughout. You might win where you're strong, but you will lose where you're weak.
Could CATCH17 go 8-8 with this talent?
No. Garrett does do one thing very well. He's got guys always playing hard and for the full 60 minutes. Guys quit on Campo left and right
We've got his back. :starspin
Any coach could go 4-12 or 12-4 with this roster, depending on injuries, scheduling, good/bad bounces, and other quasi-random circumstances beyond their control.
If you could somehow re-play the same season over and over again, letting all of those circumstances play out independently each time, I would wager the team would average more wins under Garrett than under Campo.
Campo does have the distinction of being the only Dallas Cowboys coach to be "pantsed" on TV.
Huge difference. If Garrett can't bring better results than say, Dave Campo, as head coach, then why exactly is Garrett here and getting $4M/year?
Garrett has an atrocious red zone offense.
Garrett is garbage when it comes to time management.
Garrett's game planning leaves a lot to be desired.
Garrett's playcalling is suspect at best.
Garrett was late in getting Hanna involved in the offense.
Garrett was late in benching Free and going with Parnell.
Garrett was late replacing Felix Jones with Harris at kick returner.
And Garrett can't even give a press conference without looking like an idiot. Yeah, process, and stacking, and all three phases, etc. Nobody is buying whatever he is saying anymore. The gig is up. Good riddance to this fool Garrett.
A Campo coached team is by definition a 5-11 team.
Disagree. Again, as been discussed ad nauseam, you have to look at where people are coming from. 1966-1996. 26 of 31 years with a winning record...including a record 20 straight. Since then 16 years with 1 playoff win and 6 losing seasons, 3 .500 seasons and 3 9-7 records. The last 3 years are 6-10, 8-8 and 8-8. So let's stop putting things in a vacuum and acting like ONE season of 8-8 is causing all this hand wringing.
