And people keep wanting change. Just give Garrett time. You need consistency at the head coach position.

I don't know about 5-11, but I think the franchise has been steering a fairly steady course towward medicority for quite some time.

You also need some actual progress from one season to the next. Other coaches are coming right in and taking their teams to the playoffs or greatly improving the team. What exactly are we improving on that leads us to believe we'll make another step this coming year?

    1997 6-10-0 4th -- NFC East -- Barry Switzer

There is a theme here. Losing, losing in the play-offs, change coaches, same results, change coaches, same results.

One common denominator is Jerry Jones the GM, a man with no background in the NFL, but bought his way in.

It's not that it didn't work this time. Since he became the high exalted decision maker for this franchise, it has yet to work with a team that he oversaw the talent acquisition.

    This is black and white.

That is about as rudderless as a team can get.

I have to agree. At this point he's just a different flavor of Wade Phillips.

You might prefer "the process" to "aw shucks guys" but at the end of the day it's just different window dressing at the press conference.

Behind the scenes Jerry is still the most important guy in the office and Garrett is just one of a number of "important voices" that Jerry talks to prior to making a "decision by consensus."

This is not Garrett's team, it's Jerry team. Garrett is just part of Jerry's team.

Rudderless? Ha, rudderless plus the main mast is laying on the deck. Jerry's plan is to throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. He's been doing that for years, some here actually buy into it, over, and over, and over.......

We are moving in a direction. A counterclockwise swirl as we get flushed with the other turds in the NFL.

The ship has a rudder, the problem is the Captain behind the wheel is drunk.

Our ship has sunk many times. The problem is the captain is the first one on the lifeboat.

And there is no reason to believe this process is any different than the last 6 processes. The problem is simple: Some philosophies bear fruit, or, and grow into productive, winning approaches. That hasn't happened in Dallas since the early and mid nineties.

Not saying this new process can't become a good one, but the odds are long.

This is a valid criticism. But having no faith that the direction chosen will be unsuccessful is wholly different than saying there is no direction, of course.

How much time does he need? Head coach in the NFL is not a place for on the job training! Actually, he may do fine as just a head coach, but he is absolutely terrible pulling double duty while running the offense. He either needs to be HC or OC because it is painfully obvious he sucks at doing both.
