This. The time is now to slowly put that those toxic moves behind us and move forward. We still have some bad contracts, mainly Romo, but he seems to be on the right track by not re-signing aging vets and getting rid of useless players like Miles. Hopefully he does not fall back into the same trap as all the years prior. But it's Jerry so you never know what you will get from him.

is it me or are people reading it wrong.

we're saying what cap space we get back, not what we're spending.

The Cowboys have to be under the cap limit of 134M. They are currently about 124M or 10 under the cap. Once they sign the draft picks they will at about 126M or 8M under the cap.

Was curious what new #Browns WR Miles Austin got on his contract. So… he received $300K to sign and has a base of $1.7M. $2M total.

No rush on tyron. He can be resigned next offseason. They already picked up his option, so he's locked in for next yr. But im sure they will work out a long term deal before next season starts.

Yeah I should've clarified, but that is what was intended when I wrote that. Like Dez this season, and Tyron next. Tyron will be the biggest deal. I wonder how much wiggle room that gives us with the cap after Dez (2014) and then Tyron's renewed contract? I know it is a little much to forecast that far, but would love to have a little spending room to take advantage of what should be a good class of FAs (2015).

BTW: like your sig, that took some stones ;)

Right now they are 1,686,296 under the cap
    Release Free 7,040,000
Signing Tyron long term will be about 5-6 mil first yr saving around 4,000,000
Take out Orton because i think he wont be on the team this yr 4.627,500
I dont think Mincey will be in Dallas next yr 1,300,000

I could see Dallas 18mil under the cap and then roll over whatever money they have left over this yr, its possible Dallas could have 20+mil the save against the cap. And then we dont even know how much the cap will rise. Because the CBS deal hasnt even gone into effect yet with the other tv deal.

I read last week (don't remember where) some article stated the cap was going up this year and next year and after that it primarily flat lines.

If this happens we have to find a way to track Jerry's jet again.

From what I have seen the cap savings would only be $995,000 due to the prorated portion of his signing bonus escalating forward.

If he retires they get it all back. If they cut him that 995k is the saving
