Doug Free hasn't allowed a sack in his first three starts at left tackle.

IRVING, Texas - Go ahead Cowboys, start patting towards that shoulder blade once again.

Of course, there are a few things that haven't gone out as planned so far this season. Obviously, that's the case or they wouldn't be sitting here with a 1-2 record during the bye week.

But when it comes to taking a risk on young players, the Cowboys have seemed to hit yet another one.

And if this thing stays on course, it's going to be right up there with the Tony Romo and Miles Austin decisions. Because right now, that's how well Doug Free has been playing on the left side.

The difference, of course, is the position they all play.

But we could sit here and argue right now that Doug Free has played just as well, if not better, in his first three starts at left tackle, than both Austin and Romo. And both of those guys made a huge splash....

That was a stand-up article, Nick. Way to man up even if you did laden your crow with lots of spices to make it taste better.:p:

Edit: Even though none of us knew "for certain" that Free could do the job, there were many, many of us here that thought he could do it.

Free has been excellent... Glad to see he's growing with confidence.
