(Editor's Note: Throughout the offseason, DallasCowboys.com staff writers will take a closer look at the roster, analyzing each player's impact last year and how he fits into the team's 2011 plans. Today's featured player is quarterback Tony Romo.)

    Name: Tony Romo
    Position: Quarterback
    Height/Weight: 6-2/223
    Experience: Eight seasons
    College: Eastern Illinois

Key stat: While Romo was 1-5 in his six starts last season, he still performed at a 94.9 quarterback rating, marking the fifth straight season he has finished in the 90s. The Cowboys' slow start in 2010 hurt Romo's overall record as a starter, which is now at 39-22.

    Contract Status: Signed through 2013.

2010 Impact: It's tough to truly gauge Romo's season last year. He started the first six games and the Cowboys were 1-5 in those contests. Once he got hurt and missed the rest of the season with a broken collarbone, the Cowboys actually played better under Jon Kitna, finishing the season at 6-10. However, the game plan changed under Kitna, who managed a more ball-control offense that saw more commitment to the running game. With Romo under center, the Cowboys had success in the air as he threw for at least 280 yards in the first four games, including a career-high 406 yards against the Titans.
