    IRVING, Texas - With three games to play, the Cowboys have found themselves in a rather unfamiliar position:

    Out of the playoff race - officially. Yeah, it's official now that they can't have a .500 record. But, of course, the Cowboys were unofficially out of the playoffs when they started the season 1-7.

    Or better yet, they were out from the moment Tony Romo was slammed to the turf against the Giants. Nothing against Jon Kitna, who has performed admirably in relief and much better than most of us ever imagined, but once Romo went down, the Cowboys lost that game they were winning against the Giants, they were uncompetitive in the next two games to the Jaguars and Packers, and that was the end of it.
