So I can't wait for the 7-9 6-10 stuff I'm so giddy!!! Woohoo
Another average player who starts out strong then suddenly hits a wall when teams figure out what his name is?
Sign me up.
LMAO, EXACTLY. I don't like the move either...
Starters are over rated............
I like both signings today. Smart football. I asked for 2 defensive linemen and Jerry delivered. Can't pay everybody 10 mil per. 133 million divided by 53 is about a little over 2 mil per player. This today shows that Jerry wants depth and the Cowboys defensive front is already better than last seasons scrub line led by DeMarcus.
My faith in Jerrah is that if he put both hands on his *** while looking for it, he would be surprised. I know I would.
uhhh at this point were not better, we just have more rotational players
the new guys will be in a rotation. Depth is better and the team is better. Disagree with the masses.
We signed a guy that got cut for not going to meetings and not caring, and a guy with 8 solo tackles and no sacks. The team just picked even more garbage off the scrap heap, and there is no way the team is better without Hatcher around.
Hatcher is not officially gone. And free agency is not over. We are better for 2014 and the future the minute Ware was released.
That is fine. It is just a little backwards to give a $2M guarantee to a player like that.
He's a rotational guy, which is exactly what we need, depth.
Depth is what we needed two days ago. Now we need starters.
And that is what you sign, at the end of free agency, where you can get players on the cheap.
I would get this move if Mincey were a few years younger. But he's not.
It's not like there's a plethora of talent out there. Sure there are guys like Jared Allen and Julius Peppers, but we just got rid of an old guy with a huge contract, why are we going to take on another old guy with a huge contract? People get carried away with names, and forget that depth is every bit as important as the guys who are starting, especially in a 4-man front. Our best option might be to keep adding depth, and grab a "big name" in the draft.
Let me ask you, how would you handle the DL problem right now? Who's out there that you want us to sign?
I get it, but who do you want them to throw money at right now? Keep in mind that we need roughly $5 million to sign our draft picks. Our current situation is what you get when you throw money at older players, and have a QB making over $100 million. It's going to be this way for a couple of years. We're only 24 full hours into free agency, and the off-season is still young, there's a lot that can happen.
I would rather keep the powder dry, as I have said before. Frittering away $2M in guaranteed money, right now, is just not the best practice.
If this signing happened three/four weeks from now, doubt I would care this much.
Honestly, Mincey would not be there in a month. I completely get where you're coming from, but it's not like signing him is going to take away from our ability to sign someone else. If there's something we really want, we can clear up as much space as we want to get him.
