Year in NFL: Sixth; Cowboys: First

    Height: 6-3

    Weight: 310

    College: Hofstra

    Major: Marketing/art history

    Birthdate: Sept. 10, 1973

    Birthplace: Newark, N.J.

    ESSENTIALS

In today's NFL, teams rarely have enough 300-pound, versatile, experienced offensive linemen on hand. The Cowboys followed such a philosophy when they signed veteran guard/tackle DeMingo Graham last March 23.

Graham also comes well-rested. The six-year NFL veteran was cut last Aug. 26 by the San Francisco 49ers and ended up sitting out the 2003 season. In 2002, Graham started 11 of the 14 games he played in for the Houston Texans. He sat out the final two games of the season due to a league-imposed suspension.

In 2001, his fourth and final season in San Diego, Graham started all 16 regular-season games for the Chargers on an accomplished offensive line. During that year, then-rookie LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 1,236 yards, the second best rushing total in Charger history.

Graham originally signed with San Diego in 1998 as a rookie free agent out of Hofstra University. He made 45 consecutive starts in college and was a senior tri-captain. He earned second team Division 1-AA Independent All-America in his final season. He survived the Chargers final cut but was deactivated for all 16 games.

His second year in the league was a lot more active. Graham participated in all 16 games and made 10 starts at right guard in 1999. He saw action in 14 games in 2000, including one start.

During his tenure in the league, Graham has shown the ability to play both guard positions as well as swing outside at tackle. One other thing in his favor is that coach Bill Parcells has had some success with players out of Hofstra. That's where he found standout wide receiver Wayne Chrebet as a rookie free agent in 1995.

Not that there is anything wrong with that of course...

I'll give him a pass on the Yani, but if he's also got Kenny G in his CD changer then he's just camp fodder.

Anyone else notice that head looks a little lopsided?

Ah well, we've had our share of headcases in Dallas the last few years.

At least his problem is structural and not coke-related.

Our Oline sucked last year. I want Flo and as many new starters as possible.

I'm guessing that we will at the least have 2 new starters along the OL, possibly 3. We are going to have to stay healthy during the preseason in order for the OL to develop some chemistry and get use to playing together as a unit. I see our OL starters getting some serious playing time in the preseason for once.

I totally agree. We may not finish up with Flo, LA, Johnson, Gurode and Tucker this season with our depth. But one of them probably won't be this Graham guy unless he really surprises.
