Silly little democrats. Gitmo was a hell hole that had to be closed at all costs. That was the message. Now the babies can't figure out what to do. Obama decided to reinstate George Bush's military tribunals, so maybe Gitmo is staying after all. The Dems refusing to close it gives him political cover.

Democrats drop funds to close Gitmo

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Democrats are refusing to pay for President Barack Obama's plan to relocate prisoners from the Guantanamo detention facility where enemy combatants are being held.

Obama has signed an executive order to close the facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by early next year. But the Pentagon has yet to come up with a plan on where to put the 240 or so prisoners. Between 50-100 are likely to be sent to the United States.

No lawmaker wants the accused terrorists in their backyard.

House Democrats unveiled a $94.4 billion war funding bill Monday and it had no money for the relocation plan.

The step is not likely to be the last word, however. If needed, money could be transferred later—without a politically difficult vote.

Are they keeping it open, with the closing date, with no back up plan?

Or are they keeping it open, trying to create a back up plan, and still wanting what they want?

How the heck can you scream this has to be closed with no plan on how to do it? Was this just a political move and they arent doing it because its the right thing to do.

WE WILL NOT LET THIS UN-JUSTICE CONTINUE ON, those prisoners are being tortured and we wont let that happen anymore. Well, not here anyway, if Turkey wants to torture them, have at it.

I dont get this backtracking at all. Either its wrong and it needs to be closed, or its wrong and only if we have money can we close it, or Bush sucks and we dont like anything Bush did so we are distancing ourselves from his ideas regardless if they were good or not, depending on how much money we can throw at it.

WoW, we dont have money for prisoners being tortured, but a 1 trillion dollar stimulus package that we didnt need, at least that got through.

This is essentially what disgusted me the last six years. We are at war, instead of joining together for the cause; Bush was demonized for the purpose of gaining power. I said this some time ago, long before the election. Nothing is going to change, everything Bush is doing now that is so wrong will become the right thing to do when the DEM’s take power. All this bickering has delayed the end to these wars. It’s cost us valuable lives. Win the war, than play your political games!
