Igor Olshansky could sense this day was coming. So when the Cowboys informed the veteran that he had been cut Saturday and his two-year tenure with the team had ended, he wasn't surprised.

"It was kind of in the making," Olshansky, 29, said.

Igor Olshansky could sense this day was coming. "It was kind of in the making," Olshansky, 29, said.

Olshansky sensed he would be odd man out in the Cowboys' defensive-end rotation when they acquired Kenyon Coleman and re-signed both Marcus Spears and Jason Hatcher earlier this summer.

"It was a numbers thing more than anything," said Olshansky . "They had signed three linemen and had five ends for four spots."

By cutting Olshansky, the Cowboys will save $3.335 million, the base salary the eight-year defensive end was scheduled to make in 2011.

It was a numbers thing, as in the number of good plays he produced since signing here was not nearly high enough.

    You bet.

He underwhelmed and thus it became a "numbers thing."

While I agree he played poorly, your logic does not quite fit. He had plenty of motivation to play well to be picked up by another team if he lost his job with the 'Boys. I'm sure he wanted to do well, but was not good enough to justify his contract.

Goood bye! I'm glad he's gone actually... Under performing was his specialty.
