Fourth-round analysis: Bruce Thornton, CB 12:43 PM CDT on Sunday, April 25, 2004 By MATT MOSLEY / ************** Round: 4 (121nd overall) Position: Cornerback School: Georgia Instant analysis: He's thick, which should allow him to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage ... Thornton has quick feet, but he's not known for exceptional speed (4.5 in the 40-yard dash) ... Not a great tackler. Quote/unquote: "I wasn't expecting this," Thornton said. "I thought I might go later in the fourth or the middle rounds." Where he fits in: He'll be expected to play special teams immediately and he'll definitely get a shot to compete for starting cornerback ... If the season began tomorrow, last year's nickel cornerback, Pete Hunter, would get the start but Thornton will be expected to challenge. More info: In-depth profile Mosley grade: C (Thornton has had confidence issues in the past and that's not a good thing for a cornerback (See above quote). Draft experts say he needs to have a shorter memory. The Cowboys are obviously high on Thornton, but he appears to be somewhat of a reach.
