    More on this story

Are there any current Cowboys that will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

On Tuesday, a Pro Football Weekly columnist discussed and ranked 100 current NFL players who have a shot at Canton.

Of those 100, five current Cowboys were mentioned in the five different categories. The players were divided among groupings titled: Locks; On their way; Maybe, maybe not; Don’t hold your breath; and Need more data.

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten was part of the “Maybe, Maybe not” group which was described as stars that have had a splendid career, just maybe not Hall of Fame-caliber.

Witten is 100% a lock and Ware is almost there.

Considering that there are only currently 8 TE's in the Hall of Fame, he isn't a 100% lock.

Considering how many of those 8 are looking up at his production while he's still mid-career, he'd better be.

If Witten and Ware both retired or were injured today and careers ended, neither would make the HOF.

They both look like HOF players, but they both have more to accomplish in longer careers before that happens or can be called a lock.

Neither have been around long enough to be considered locks for the HOF. We will see where they are in about 5 years. It would also help if both could include a SB win in their resumes. HOF likes SB winners. Both need to continue to build their stats for several more years. Ware setting a new NFL record for most sacks in 1 year & a top 2 in NLF sacks for his career would also go long way to entering HOF.

Don't see any current NFL players even being discussed re HOF. Now if Romo were to win at least SBs, then he becomes a possibility; a 3rd SB he'd be a certainly. But he's got to win his first, with lot of help from rest of team, before we can even issue the issue.

Now in a few years Dez might even be someone who should be discussed--if he can approach Moss & other top records along with some SB wins.

Didn't read the whole article, but presume Larry Allen was mentioned as a lock.

Stupid complaint. The article only listed 10 total locks in the entire NFL, and they're all 32+ years old on the verge of retirement.

Ask Witten's NFL peers if he's a HOF lock or not. He's 28, has played 8 seasons and has been selected to the Pro Bowl seven consecutive times.

If there's such a thing as a "lock" for the HOF... Jason Witten is one.

WIN SOMETHING....other than regular season STAT trophies...not suggesting he is the REASON we are losing...but he needs to be a big part of the reason we are WINNING something other than 8 or 9 regular season games every year to be a HOF lock. And that goes for Ware as well. The shine is off this team and these players....tired of talking about how talented they are or the numbers they pile up...WIN SOMETHING. This team just started the year 1-7...and many of us thought they might go 1-15....not hardly the stuff of HOFers.

If Witten had a ring, he would be a lock, imo.

He'll probably make it anyway, but getting a ring is the fast track way to getting in if your stats are there as well.

I can name a few that are mentioined for HOF every time they play: P. Mannining, T. Brady, L. Tomlinson, Ray Lewis and slowly but surely Ruthlessraper is starting to get mentioned. Aikman was saying that if Ben wins 1 more or has a couple more season like the last few then you have to consider him a lock.
