    Jean Jacques Taylor

SportsDay columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor answers a reader's questions about a topic of the day.

Question: If I am Jon Gruden or Bill Cowher, why not come in now? It is a no lose situation and you get to evaluate the talent and needs for next year when people will be expecting results. In some aspects they get a free look half season.

    Daniel C. Morrison, Hong Kong

Jean-Jacques Taylor: That sounds good in theory, but you’re assuming those guys want this job. Those guys, especially Cowher, will have options. What if they don’t want to work for Jerry? Maybe, they consider Minnesota a better situation with Adrian Peterson , Percy Harvin, Jared Allen and some other quality players in addition to an owner with a lower profile.

you don't turn down the offer to coach a franchise like cowboys. May be be will set rule from the begining like parcells did and negotiate all those rules with Jerry before accepting the offer. And also it is not like we don't have any talent here

You do if you're not given the authority you need to succeed. Remember, successful coaches have huge egos. And they're coaches for a reason. They want things done their way. The way Jerry has structured this organization, he will have the final say in football matters, including the climate and environment in which his team plays.

I think even Mike Shanahan wanted to see if there would be an opening in Dallas before accepting the Redskins job.Jerry will be more humbled after this season than his normal self. So may be all this losing is doing us a favor

I don't see Cowher coming to Dallas. He wouldn't put up with JJ. Gruden would be a better fit, but he might enjoy Cleveland and working with Holmgren more if Mangini is ousted...who knows. Please: no Shanahan's in Dallas.
