News: DMN: Tyron Smith visits West to help bring a few smiles to the faces of those affect

    Late last week, Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith took a break from his off-season workouts and headed south to lend a helping hand to those affected in the West fertilizer plant explosion.

    Smith shook hands and posed for photos with several of the emergency responders on the scene to help recover bodies and assist those who lost homes because of the explosion. Smith also signed some photos and trading cards for the emergency personnel.

    Turns out that many of the local police officers were huge Cowboys’ fans and they really got a kick out of Smith coming down to West and helping out. Some of the police officers told Smith that they hadn’t been asleep for days and one said he had just helped recover his 14th body.
