    OXNARD, Calif. — The Dallas Cowboys have Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith under contract now through 2023.

    He has signed a 10-year contract for about $109 million. It’s an eight-year contract extension. The contract includes a $10 million signing bonus, $40 million guaranteed and about $32 million guaranteed over the first three years of the deal.

    But many thought Smith would pull in well more than about $11 million per season. So why did he pull the trigger on this deal?
