Crews were out Tuesday erecting chain-link fencing around the property to manage access and control erosion. There were also workers out at the site doing some surveying after the city issued its notice to proceed. Equipment will be delivered to the site starting Wednesday, and mass excavation of the site is expected to start the week of July 7, according to city officials.

The city and the school district have pledged $115 million for the public portion of the 91-acre site. About 66 acres will be developed separately by the Blue Land companies owned by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his family. That acreage will include retail, restaurants, office space and a hotel.
