Had a tough time sleeping last night because of a nasty sinus headache and the neighbors dog barking at apparitions, so tried a Redline Extreme energy drink for the first time. Did like the directions said and only drank 1/2 of the bottle. Results?

Nausea, hot flashes, continued sweating for 2-3 hours, irritable, shaky, cramped stomach, and oddly enough a really bad runny nose.

It's not a dang energy drink, it's bottled flu symptoms. First time and last time I ever try one of those things.

I tend to get a few of those effects when I drink one with an empty stomach. Especially the shakiness, and stomach cramps.

The only time I drank one, I didn't realize you were only supposed to drink half. It was at work. I was working my *** off. At break, when I was sitting down relaxing, my heart was pounding out of my chest. I turned blood red (my face and my chest). I also got the hiccups so bad, I could hardly breath. Those things actually should be illegal, or perhaps only bottled as ONE SERVING.

    Never again.

Phenylephrine HCl has a bad habit of trying to make my heart stop after it tries to run a few marathons without me. Two days in ICU, a ton of saline bags, and a few days later my resting heart rate was still hovering around 100. Randomly developed an allergy to the stuff as did my mother to anything containing sulfonamides.

Ugh. Man that's tough. Do you go in for natural medicine at all?

There are still a few over the counter medications that I can take. I have a list of what's safe for me from my family doctor, but I stick to prescription sinus medication just to be on the safe side.

Just out of curiosity, what was your line of thinking behind consuming an energy drink when you were having a difficult time sleeping? I would have thought a warm glass of milk would have been your first idea.

Energy Drinks are stupid. To many kids get addicted to these things and they are flat out bad for your body.

Energy drinks don't do much for me.

I kicked caffeine for a while and then had one and noticed it but other than that, I get nothing.

You could always try No-Doz, although those have been worse than what you described from my experience. You don't sleep because you're evacuating everything from your digestive track over the course of a night.

Neti pot for life! Do it every day. It's absolutely the best thing you can do for your sinuses that involves no medication.

I drink a 5 Hour Energy on occasion, but it's pretty hit and miss whether I get anything at all out of it. When it works, it's really nice to get rid of a bit of the tiredness that occasionally creeps up when working nights, but when it doesn't, I've wasted 3 bucks a pop.

Yes... they look goofy in action and it takes a little getting used to, but they flat out work as advertised...

I drink them all the time. But redline, dude, I drank that one time too. And I will never drink it again. FDA needs to take a look at that one, because I'm a pretty healthy guy... at least I was when I drank this evil drink you speak of. And it is Evil.

I should have clarified. I had a hard time sleeping the night before, so yesterday at work I was draggin' *** and gave the energy drink a shot at getting out of the tired rut.

Energy drinks don't work if they have a bunch of sugar. On a side note, with your health (mine being the way it is now I can relate), you might try those Emergen-C packets and sip on those throughout the day. They have vitamin Bs, which can keep you awake...and energy drinks contain this and other herb supplements that keep you awake anyway.

Vitamin Bs should be a safe bet for you. And I usually feel pretty good after sipping on a Monster or Red Bull. But I can't drink the ones that have sugar in them.

Agreed. I use the bottle though. I had the hardest time getting started on this but when I did, it made a big difference. I've had to deal with bad environmental allergies and after mowing the lawn, I would do a rinse and be surprised what can get into your sinuses.
