If you're 19th in average and 3 yards from first, it's pretty obvious those 3 yards are hard to get.

he's a solid punter who is very good at punts inside the 20, he avg 4.4 yards per return and he makes 645k a year. people amaze me at the things they worry about

A lot of that has to do with field position, that isn't a terribly honest argument. I think he is fine for now. They didn't sign him to a 7 year deal like they did for bailey. Obviously they aren't sold on him long term and know that giving him the tender was cost effective. Doesn't mean much.

This signing doesn't measure up to the "everyone we sign in the off season must be all-pro calipre" standard set by the CZ faithful.

I like him. When there was problems with punt coverage this year, it was usually because of the coverage and not the punt, and even then, it wasn't a huge problem anyway. Lighten up, guys

One of the last things I'm worried about is punter, this'll work.

With last year's last minute dedication to Special Teams (Edgar Jones, Kyle Bosworth, Cameron Lawrence). I'm surprised we are settling for such a mediocre Punter. UDFA signing for competition is a must.

Are people legitimately talking about drafting a punter?

He can single-handedly win you the field position battle. That's critical.

He is a JAG punter (19th in avg), he is certainly not probowl caliber, but he is not a scrub either.

We could definitely upgrade this position and for less money! Hell draft one with all of those 7th rounders we have.

He really does a pretty good job at limiting returns. I'm okay with him really.

You would actually waste a 7th round pick on a punter just to save around $200k? And a 7th round rookie would still have a difficult time beating him out. They are rarely consistent coming into the league.

call me crazy, but im not going to cut a punter because he can't get those last 3 yards. Especially, when he ranks pretty high for Fair Catches and punts inside the 20.
