Hell, the first few years we weren't running the zone blocking scheme, and Garrett wanted Houck and got him.

You know what? I hadn't noticed earlier, but this is a Calvin Watkins unsourced rumor thread. In other words, it's worthless. It took you quoting something so obviously negative and unsourced for me to even think to look at the by-line. Imagine my shock.

Eerily reminiscent of Ryan's firing last year.

Now we will learn Callahan was really a ****** and made fun of Garrett's mom

Garrett was actually very complimentary of Rob Ryan when he was let go, and after. I know there's no way to unravel the fantasy that Ryan was a scapegoat last season, but we really did let him go knowing that he didn't really get much of a fair shake his final season because of the injuries.

We really did want to emphasize turnovers, and I choose to believe that Jerry was not a fan of Rob's and that that had more to do with his dismissal than anything else. I say that believing it's actually more concerning than if they'd fired him to simply scape goat him. But I can't get past that post-game video of Jerry congratulating the players late in the season and completely dissing the DC when he walked by.

And, for the record, I think the emphasis on coverage and turnovers was exactly right, but am still not sure we brought in the right guys to get that done. I think the Kiffin hire was weird and risky and, while he also didn't get a fair shake last season due to all the injuries up front that had us playing too much zone in the back, I still have my doubts about how good we'd have been with a healthy front.

This, at least, is an honest reply. And, you know, part of the fun here in the offseason really is in the freaking out, anyway. Maybe you have a point. :)

Same old story. No direction or leadership on any level, just knee jerk reactions and drifting like a rudderless ship.

It is the same old story, anyway. It's fiction, but it is the same, and it is old.

If that's the case, launch him.

That offense was a shell of what we've run for years, even with bad offensive lines in the past who couldn't run block their way out of a wet paper bag.

Get this bum out of here and get someone who will actually do stuff like put Dez Bryant in motion.

#Cowboys Psst: If Linehan comes & Callahan stays, might be cuz Callahan doesn't end up with superior job offer.
Psst 2: If 'Saban Guy' Linehan joins #Cowboys if won't represent 'compromise' between Garrett/Jerry. It's a Garrett WIN.
Callahan would 'rather' be demoted w #Cowboys w 1-yr deal than get new multi-yr deal to be OC elsewhere? #BeSmarter

Not all that sure where Fish is going with that last one unless he was being sarcastic. but oh well, there you...

Is he maybe saying that Callahan would take the OC position rather than a demotion if it were available, and that, if Linehan comes and Callahan stays it's because CLE didn't have Callahan as their first choice for OC? I agree, it's cryptic.

    Glad to be of service.

I thought it funny that Watkins cited an unnamed source on the dysfunctionality at the Ranch.

I'm not taking the source as true. My issue is it even being out there and if it does come to fruition, how dysfunctional it is. Last season was the off season of "discomfort" and a majority of it revolved around who would be calling plays and who would be D coordinator. The coaches couldn't even get their stories straight. So now we've heard Garrett and Jerry discuss situations where the staff might not be set in how it was set last year. Then this comes up. Again, if it happens, "rearranging chairs on the deck of the Titanic."

Logic dictates that if the Cowboys are seriously considering replacing Callahan, then his original hiring can be considered a mistake. In addition, if Linehan is being considered, then it can also be presumed that Garrett would be more comfortable with him as the OC considering they are said to have a history.

If this is really Jerry's implied move and not Garrett's, then it has not appeared as such. This appears to be a Garrett move more than anything. As for Callahan being "vilified" by anything I posted, I see no such evidence.

Guys, this is all a ploy to get Callahan to quit so Jerry doesn't have to pay him while he isn't here. Garrett wants Callahan out and Linehan in because Garrett can have more control over the new hire who he has worked with in the past. If Jerry isn't going to let Garrett call the plays, he at least wants someone in their that he can control and have more input during games than he did with Callahan. This is nothing more that Garrett's attempt to get Callahan to leave.

The Cowboys offense was pretty good under Callhan.

    Not great, but good.

Feels like re-adjusting the chairs on the titanic to me.
