IRVING, Texas -- At the beginning of the Cowboys’ season cornerback depth seemed to be one of the club’s biggest issues.

Mike Jenkins was coming back from a stinger. Terence Newman missed almost all of camp and the entire preseason with a groin injury. Orlando Scandrick suffered a high ankle sprain in the season opener at the New York Jets, which forced safety Barry Church to play some corner.

In Sunday’s 34-7 win against St. Louis the Cowboys used every cornerback on the roster with the starting defense at some point and not because of injury.

I love how they are giving playing time to most of the players on the active roster. I think it improves how they prepare during the week since they know they will get into the game. Most importantly if injuries occur we have better prepared backups.

    I like to see this.

It helps ease the pain when a starter goes down.

I agree. It keeps them mentally and physically prepared.

Ryan was doing it before we had a big lead.

The lead is irrelevant, it was obvious half-way through the 3rd quarter the Cowboys were going to win. From my understanding he wasn't doing any of the rotating in the first half.

and was still a good move on his part getting these guys out there and rotating them into the game.

Agreed. But I feel like putting in backups with a big lead is pretty common...

...I just don't really understand how this is newsworthy :laugh2:

It's true. Think about how bad Choice would have looked yesterday if we hadn't been getting him regular playing time.

This just goes to show how good Rob is at finding strong points from players and utilizing them to benefit the defense. If Newman is better overall but, Ball excels at a point of emphasis for that particular play, then Ball should get the nod for that play. I just hope Rob sticks around.

Well is was not a big lead at that point and given the late game collapse Ryans still felt it was the right thing to do.

I like the idea of getting everyone's "feet wet" in the game!
