Steve Wyche: Falcons Could Release Michael Vick This Week Posted Jul 23rd 2007 1:42PM by Dan Benton While being interviewed on ESPN earlier today, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Steve Wyche stated that Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank could possibly release quarterback Michael Vick by the end of the week. If this turns out to be true, the Falcons would face some significant salary cap issues. At the very least, they would take a $6 million cap hit this season and a $15 million hit next year. However, paying $21 million to dump Vick may be in their best interest at this point. It was already reported that Blank planned to lay down the law tomorrow, so now I have to wonder, is this Vick's last day as a Falcon? Vick is facing various felony charges that stem from his involvement with dog fighting. If convicted, he could face up to six years in prison and $350,000 in fines.
