OK, from looking at the various lists and applying a little common sense I think there are six "locks":

    Jamaal Charles
    LeSean McCoy
    Matt Forte
    Adrian Peterson
    Calvin Johnson
    Jimmy Graham

Who are the other 4 and why?

    I'd add Lacy

Also, format (PPR, 2 or 3 WR, etc) is important.

Agreed the format is pretty important too but at this juncture I'm just talking a generic list if there is such a thing.

FWIW, yeah I think Lacy is close to being a "lock". The prime back on a high-powered offense. Lots of TD's and a decent amount of receptions, meaning he'll be good in either format. The only thing that gives me pause is that he's only done it one season.

There are two names that I've seen on various lists (but not all)...

    Marshawn Lynch
    Arian Foster

    In the top-10?

I see those two a lot as well. Foster is really risky but they claim that want him in on all three downs.
I've seen Peyton Manning slip in there too, though I wouldn't do it.
For me it gets dicey after your top 6 plus Lacy. I think next up would be Lynch, and maybe Foster. But I wouldn't feel good about it.

Lynch and Foster both scare the beejesus out of me.

What about Bell? I've seen him in the top-10 of various lists.

I'm tempted to roll both Bell and, believe it or not, Murray, into that same shaky tier as Foster and Lynch. Maybe not quite. I hope I don't have the 8th or 9th pick.
BTW, I'm not even sure I'd take a TE that early. But that's just me. Graham will be gone early for sure.

    Murray scares me also.

If it's a standard scoring league I'd consider Alfred Morris if I was picking 8, 9 or 10.

If it's a PPR league I would start looking seriously at WR's like Demaryius Thomas.

RB's are just a gamble in general.

Just take a guy you feel semi comfortable with and cross your fingers.

Murray is as good of a play as anyone when he is out there.

    Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers.

RBs outside of Charles, McCoy and Peterson are too much of a gamble. Marshawn is a solid choice. Same with Morris, but he doesn't get receptions. A QB will go in the first round even though most have them ranked in the teens. It just doesn't play out that way. Someone always nabs an elite skill position player in the first 12 picks whether it'd a WR or QB. There's more certainty with the clear cut #1s than RBs who are coming back from injury or had a down year.

If it's PPR, running backs who can catch are a huge advantage. WRs who get tons of looks are too. I.E. Brandon Marshall. You just have to make the best decision you can based on your draft order. In the end, I usually go with my gut instincts while taking all things into consideration as well as expert rankings.

I'm split on Murray but he's a lock to go top 20 for sure. Talent, good o-line vs injury, poor play call. He can obviously be a beast cause he does everything.

Gotta say no QB should be chosen in the 1st round no matter what kind of league scoring is being used.

I lean that way too, though anyone who took Peyton last year was looking really good.
Then again, odds are that they took him much later than Rd1.
The QB class is really deep this year, IMO.

That's it exactly, who could have predicted that Manning was going to do that.

And I don't think anyone is wagering that he'll be doing that again.

I think I'm going to wait until about 8 QB's are off the board before I pick one. If someone wants to take QB in Rd 1 or 2... Fine by me! That'll give me a chance to get someone at RB where there isn't a lot of sure-fire depth.

We've got a couple openings in the 2 leagues I'm in. PPR scoring. Trash talking and everything.

    PM me if you're interested.

You couldn't PAY me to take Foster in the top 10 I would take Monte Ball ahead of him.

I'll do my best to avoid drafting Foster in my leagues.
