Actually, Murray was credited with 7 forced missed tackles vs. the Rams.

    The numbers come from PFF.

As to your first comment about hitting the hole consistently...please do explain how Peterson is NOT ahead of Murray. Or can he not hit a hole consistently, either?

his first half stats are well below that though. Easy to rack up a high average when the defense allows you to run out the clock

I meant that its easier to rack up missed tackle numbers when you never hit the hole and plow into defenders, rather than run to space.

Also, if they are from PFF I'm just going to assume they are garbage, since everything else from there is.

And that statement is 100% false, he actually has done better in the first half, then the second half.

    1st half
    22 attempts
    135 yards
    6.1 YPC
    1 TD

    2nd half
    18 attempts
    90 yards
    5.0 YPC 1 TD

    What's your excuse now? :p

I think it goes to those huge running lanes the Oline was opening up. If they can keep up that kind of bullying, Murray's potential just skyrockets. Its' pretty exciting

kind of surprised by Murray being at the top because from watching the games it seems like the first guy almost always tackles him or Murray just bull rushes him. I've been viewing Murray as a faster Marrion Barber type of back this whole time, who knew he was really more like a Barry Sanders type elusive back.

Yes, Murray had 1 good game against the rams. Yes, Murray runs to darkness.

If Murray plays well against the chargers and the broncos who have the best run defense in the nfl, my opinion might change a little.

I have seen that also...but, hopefully he does that to save his next run. If you are getting 6-7 yards on first down, save those other 3 for 2nd down. I think he is playing smart football to make sure he can last the season.

this is where stats really can be deceiving.

I didn't see the Packers game, so I had to go look just now. In the first 23 minutes of the game, Morris ran for 13 yards on 5 carries. so 2.6 ypc

In the final 7 minutes of the half, The redskins were losing 24-0. morris had 41 yards on 2 carries (and no points). So statistically, he had a good first half, but it was when they were getting crushed that he actually produced.

In Week one, he averaged 3.75 yards in the first half and ended with less then 50 yards for the game.

Week 3 is the only game he has actually played well when it counted.

Why would you take away those carries though, just because it was a good play? A.P is averaging 4.1 YPC ATM, but take away his very first carry of the season and it drops it to a very low 3. You don't take away good carries just because they're ... Good. Just like you wouldn't take away all of his carries that went for no gain, because eventually over time his good/bad carries will even out.

And at this point in time, Alfred Morris has played better in the first half of games, compared to the second half. He didn't get those yards due to the defense playing soft like you originally stated. #MythBusted

Of course he leads in this stat. He seeks out defenders while others avoid them.

Why would you include them? My contention was his stats were inflated by large leads and defenses playing accordingly.

I think 24 points is a large lead.

    or not
