You kind of nailed what is possibly the best group for openings out of the box. My favorite of theirs was Civil War.

If I were to say G&R I'd say Sweet Child O' Mine over Paradise City.
If not, China Girl by David Bowie or Yankee Rose by DLR.

Seriously though.....lots of good ones. Good thread idea.

If this was open to punk rock, I could go on for days.

I always forget these minor classics. If by intro you mean the guitar lick I agree, if you mean the spaced out synth effects, I don't know... Love this song.

I tore out the back seat of my jeep in favor of two twelve-inch MTX terminator subwoofers my senior year in high school. Lars banging away on thise drums just made this song unbelievable on that sound system.

    Here are a few

In this one, all the guitar before the singing starts

    Always a classic

    Another classic

Lets make it three classics. The intros dictated what was to come.

This is top 10 for sure. Could be Stones "Cant you hear me Knockin" or "Gimme Shelter". Also partial to Sabbath "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" or "NIB".

Can I go with just the scream at the beginning of Angel of Death? :laugh2:

The beginning of Raining Blood isn't half bad either.

Dude, now that I think about it, Slayer has TONS of great openers. I was thinking about putting Hell Awaits on my list, too :) .

    Forgot another one:

If any of you out there haven't seen any Billy Squier videos, do yourselves a favor and watch Rock Me Tonight. It will stay with you for quite awhile. The man's music was golden, but he had strange ideas about videos.
