How big was winning the coin flip w/ Baltimore?

I remember talking to friend about how nice it felt to win something after the season we had, even if it wasn't on the field. Reports indicate that the Ravens were high on Martin and reading some comments from their fans they were very much on-board with the pick before the draft.

If we would have lost the coin toss and the Ravens took Martin we would've been in no mans land. Obviously there weren't any compelling trade offers to move down, the drop off behind Martin in value would have put us in a weak position.

Thank heavens for winning that toss, just shows you how potentially important One position in the draft is.

I really hope that won't be the defining moment of our season, I'll put it that way

If Aaron Donald was the prize then I think the coin flip would have been huge. Martin was a solid pick, but Donald is what this team really needed.

Draft is not over and Martin is what this team really needed also.

Absolutely, but I personally really like Martin and it feels nice to get a little win like that, I'll take every small victory we can get after the last 18 years.

Losing the flip would have given us 10 extra minutes to trade down. :)

If Martin was gone and we took Manziel, could we still trade his rights today to a team looking for a QB?

Yes, it's not over, but Martin isn't a game changer like I think Donald will be. He is another nice piece.

How do you know Donald is. He could be a complete bust or just an average player and Martin could be a game changer. You don't know how any of these players are going to turn out at this point. There is no way who can be a game changer and who won't be.

Not as much as Donald. Martin is a solid and safe pick. WE are still bad on defense and Martin didn't help with that.

Boy you already this Donald guy in the HOF. Let's cool off on that and let's wait and see how each player ends up. Donald wasn't going to turn this defense around. He also wasn't there when we were picking so it's not like we passed on him anyway.

Whats wrong with wanting Donald over Martin? Cowboys also wanted Donald over Martin and he wasn't there so they took Martin. Donald would have cured of a lot of the things wrong with our defense. I didn't say he is HOF.

He wasn't there for us to take first and foremost. I'm sure we would have taken Donald over Martin but Donald wasn't available.

Yes exactly. Like I stated it was nothing more than a safe pick. Defense still needed to be fixed.
