Found this video of McCain giving a talk and taking questions from the public.

Forget the opening title shot about McCain taming flames. His responses are exactly the kind of thing that I can support.

My biggest problem with politics has always been the fact that the main objective is to convince the people that the other guy sucks worse than you do.

So often now campaigns just turn into garbage slinging competitions that I almost want to just turn myself off to politics as a whole.

I applaud McCain for giving those answers even though he was getting booed for some of the remarks. I don't care about his motives, don't care if he is trying a new tactic or whatever, I just respect his willingness to come out and say those things. Voting shouldn't be about selecting the lesser of two crappy options. Start telling people why you are the better option without getting there by default by telling us the other guy sucks.

I like that he's at least trying now, but it will make him look even worse if tomorrow they keep up all the "Obama is scary" ads, Palin talking about Obama as a terrorist sympathizer, etc.

If you're going to have two separate, clashing messages, you better be damn sure that it's not plainly obvious.

Yea, I applaud McCain for standing up to those nutjob righwing wackos but it will look even more like a political stunt if he goes right back to saying Obama is "spooky".

Obama is spooky, most radicals are. He is going to set this country back 20 years with his socialistic approach to government.

That's revisionist history and you know it.

If anything, MOST of the financial experts you hear now say that everytime Governments open their mouths, they spook the markets.

This current financial panic has nothing to do with John McCain or Barack Obama.

If you want to talk about socialism and government spending, last time I checked, John McCain signed that $800 B bailout package as well.
