I ask this in light of the "Are you exclusively a Cowboys fan" and in light of many of us having kids who play football and who dream they may one day play professional football - as great as the odds are against that.

So let's say your son plays for the Redskins, Giants, Eagles or any other team. Would you be a fan of that team?

I can say I would. It would be difficult, but, in this case, blood relations would supercede football loyalty.

Who's with me? Who's not with me?

What kind of parent lets their kids become affiliated with the eagles? :p:

I always tell my kids, when they ask me this, that I'd be rooting for them to have a great individual game, on the way to being crushed by the Cowboys. They're horrified, of course, and so I tell them 'that's what free agency is for.' :)

I would wear his colors, and never miss a game.

If my son was a professional athlete, his team would be my team.

Son? Yes, but it would be a different feeling... I would root for him but the Cowboys would still be my team.. If my son played for the Eagles I would still hate the team but hope he did well.

It's a pride thing more then anything with your son.

I almost wish this was the case, so I'd have a good excuse not to root for the Cowboys.

I root for Aldon Smith, but I don't root for the 49ers.

Heck yea. I'd be their biggest fan if someone from my family made it to the NFL. It wouldn't matter who they played for.
I'd still be a cowboys fan too.

Probably so. Seeing a loved one achieve and be happy is more important that the Cowboys.... by a little bit.

FWIW My buddy works with Rocky Bernards Father (Giants D-lineman) and he is always cheering for the Gaints, despite teasing.

If one of my immediate family (brother, son) played professional football for another team I would ditch the Cowboys in second.

I have watched every Dallas game that I have had access to since I was five and never missed a single game since Sunday Ticket came around. I have been on this site almost every day since it came into being to check for news of my team. But, my family is light years more important to me.

Unless my relative was playing for the Bengals or Lions, I'm sure I would also be ecstatic to not have Jerry Jones as the owner of my favorite team.

Kids need to learn that there's worse thing in life than losing football games, anyway. Blood's thicker than water, but this is entertainment we're talking about.

I also try to destroy my kids at board games and on the football and soccer fields. And when they beat me, I take my lumps like a man. It is what it is. I love them dearly, but that's got nothing to do with football. If they're unlucky enough to play for the wrong team, then I root against them for three hours a week.

Of course I would. Nothing is better than seeing your son succeed or even just watching him play.

Of course I would. Especially if it was my son.

I hate Eagles. I hate them so much, you can't even imagine. But if my son ends up playing for Eagles, I would be the biggest Eagles fan.
