I know I am. I know it's bad and has affected a lot of people, but the media has really taken off and run with this.

I'm guessing every BP employee is probably sick and tired of it. And especially the CEO Hayward.

Almost all the other people are sick of BP not being able to plug the hole.

I'm sick of it too. This is so ridiculous.

No one had a plan for this in case it happened?

I haven't been following it that much. I am not too familiar with that industry and I have no idea, from a historical perspective how bad it is, to tell you the truth.

Since every thread about it gets locked, there is not much time to talk about it on here anyways.

One person out there can't control himself and keeps getting threads closed. I'm sure he will be here soon to politicize the thread.

Just a warning and there will not be another.

If a person turns this into a political thread they will be banned. No more warnings.

Way too many warnings have been given and there are no more excuses...politics are off limits.

hopefully this will jump start the worlds recognition of the need for clean fuels. Oil is messy and wont last forever.

it's going to take a long, long time for alternative energy to meet the oil demand.

The one thing I wonder about is the new technologies developed to turn coal into oil. There is tons of coal and all of it located inland. Lots of it in the USA and Canada, too.

They need to be researching a gaggle of alternative energy approaches: only a couple have to pull through for it to matter.

As I understand it, the US oil rigs have a bit fewer safety features than some other places. This spill had a bunch of equipment failure and human error snowballing into a disaster. Bet it would have been a lot cheaper just to have added the extra safety features. Anyway, this is a slow, ongoing disaster. And no one but the oil companies themselves have the expertise to deal with fixing it. Repercussions are going to be long and bad on this one. I think that's one major reason the focus on it has been so relentless.

Hopefully they get it capped today. After that they need to look in to what happened and how to prevent this from happening again.
