Ok then, so he didn't have any say on which players where needed to run HIS offense, I gotcha.
If garret is "the least of the cowboys problems" I am not sure I want to know what the other problems are because they must clearly be insurmountable
I feel fairly confident that Garrett didn't scout O-lineman and over rule Tom Ciskowski.
Maybe that's part of the problem, he should have. I mean 7 years man, common, people cannot excuse Garrett for everything, he has done a lousy job in Dallas, no if's or but's about it, the record speaks for itself.
I don't excuse him for everything, he's had some of the problems you would expect a green coach to have but if your gonna use the whole 7 years as part of the reason to fire him then you have to give him credit for callin the plays that won the division twice and not only won the only playoff in a long time but was good enough to help get a first round bye in one of those years. That's not what I would call a lousy job.
I've said: Garrett isn't the answer. But he's not the problem either. Red won't be in the NFL much longer but his successor will have a worse W-L stint with the Cowboys.
No head coach can succeed here, particularly in '13 thru '16. The talent isn't there. The structure isn't there. The culture isn't there. The intelligence and leadership aren't there.
Jerry deflates the tires. Always.
Our only only hope is that we get that lucky new coach hire that lights the team up from the change in direction. Much like when Parcells took over for Campo, Wade for Parcells, and several coaches for other teams in there first year.
I was just replaying to your post that it's Garrets team since '11 and before that he didn't deserve blame for the bad roster, I disagree, he is partly to blame because he has been here 7 years. And by the way I wouldn't fire hime because of his first 4 years with the team, in fact that's why he got the job but I would though for his last 3+. We'll just have to wait and see how this thing unfolds.
Gotcha, we agree on something, I do however think that a good coach can have a better record than Garrett on his first year in 2014, assuming that happens. I don't think the talent is as bad as you think but I get where you're coming from.
Blame him for the Jones pick too. Ivy League thought Barber was an "every down" back. Lolz.
Do you guys remember the strike games? Can you imagine a good NFL offense going up against scrubs and what they'd do to it? Well, that's about what we're playing with right now. The only proven NFL starters on that defense are Oscan, Carr and Ware who is dragging his leg around. And Carr is having to play to his weakness as you have to play zone with these scrubs. If you can seriously count that against any coach on this team then you are being unreasonable.
I do have problems with the offense which should be cooking on low heat at least. That's on Jerry, Garrett and Callahan as well as the players. I will remind many of you would cried loud and long about the OL which is not as bad as last year but isn't playing well now. Personally I put that equally on the players and coaches. If you want to look at the origin of it then you can look at one Jerry Jones who is responsible for talent acquisition. I will say that there is a little contribution from lack of confidence and chemistry. You cannot role one new guy after another out there and expect team chemistry.
Whatever you say fanboi, its a totally body of incompetent work. He hasnt developed a QB, the offense has steadily regressed and he is staring 3 straight seasons of mediocrity in the face.
He was the ASSISTANT HEAD COACH on the Phillips teams, he was second in command and had a huge say in drafting and philosophy.
they said the same thing about stripping his playcalling duties. I didnt agree then. I dont with that now.
Wade won 2 division titles and a playoff game in about the exact same time frame Garrett has lost to virtually every team with a winning record and the losses have been record-breaking EPIC losses.
Sorry, but your boy Opie doesnt get a pass for this.....................win the division or he goes.............nothing else matters.
Have you watched our defense this year.........................we are on pace to be the worst defense in the history of the entire league............since the game of football was invented................even Jerry said firing Ryan as a mistake.
Beast, you are my homie in the sea of Ginger defenders....
Doesnt he look stoned ALL the time? I have never seen this man with clear eyes.
You guys don't analyze anything. You don't think. You generalize and you paint with the brush you choose. If you think Wade and Garrett inherited similar teams.... then it says all I need to say.
LOL............so let me get this right.
Garrett has never chosen any of the players, he has never helped put together a draft board, he has never had any input into free agency signings, he now has nothing to do with the defense, he now has nothing to do with the offense, he has no control or direction on which plays are called, Callahan has full carte blanche.
So the golden boy, heir apparent, next coming of Landry, top young coach in the league..........................has been reduced to being to being a glorified cheerleader standing there clapping all game................................WOW, what an EPIC fall.
LOL............he definitely does not have a look of confidence..........more like a "deer in the headlights" look after every game.
