Joe Montana was almost a Steeler

    I had never heard this story until yesterday. Apparently Montana has talked about it before. When he left San Francisco he wanted to go to Pittsburgh since he was from the region. The Steeler said no thanks we have Neil O'Donnell.

    How was he almost a Stealer if they said no? I was almost a Cowboy but they said no. :laugh1:

    And people say Jerry is a bad GM. Seems like he made the right choice there. :D

    That would have been interesting. The Steelers were quite good just missing a good QB at that time. Joe was not what he was in his prime by then but certainly still a lot better then what they had.

    That 95' superbowl may have been a bit different. They may have even faced SF in the 94' superbowl.

    Given what Montana accomplished with what I feel was a less talented team in KC I do believe you're right.

    He could have helped those Steelers teams a great deal.
