Anyone out there that can give me some good recommendations?
Ip man 1&2
Love both IP man movies and last time I checked you could watch both free on Hulu
More of an aisian horror movie fan so can not name any modern martial arts movies
House Of Flying Daggers an all time favorite.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Drunken Master II
Unleashed, Kiss of the Dragon, Hero
Ong Bak series
Red Cliff Complete
The Lost Bladesman
The Perfect Weapon
The Raid Redemption
The Sorcerer and the White Snake
The Legend is Born IP Man
That'll get you started
It's old but it's good: 5 Venoms, sometimes called 5 Deadly Venoms.
I had two copies one with a real sorry bunch of voice over and one that was subtitled. I preferred the sub-title to the voice over.
Truthfully anything with Jet Li ... my fav Martial Arts actor..
A Better Tomorrow
Kung ** Hustle
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Saw all four and loved them all. I'm a fan of Donnie Yen, love his raw style. If you guys want to see a good flick from him, SPL, otherwise called Kill Zone. The fight between him and Jing Wu, goes down as one of my favorites of all time. You can google the actualy fight on youtube if you just want to see it.
Flashpoint is also a good fllick, though the story-line is kind of slow. The last fight scene between Yen and Collin Chou, the bodyguard of the Oracle in the Matrix, is ridiculous as well. Donnie incorporated a lot of MMA, ground fighting techniques in it.
War of Arrows (Korean movie)
Master of the Flying Guillotine
*anything done by Yuen Woo ping. Either as a director, or action-choreographer (Matrix,Crouching Tiger)
"War of the Arrows" was awesome. "District 13" was too. Both on Netflix. "The Raid: Redemption" is also insanely good.
If you like the guy from Raid Redemption the other movie on Netflix with him is Merantau not as good but gives you an earlier look at him in the movies.
And th District 13's movies where a show of of parkour IMO (I do like them) then again I love American Ninja Warrior
We'll check out Merantau tks, and Cyril Raffaelli showed he was a pretty good martial artist in the D3 movies. The parkour WAS pretty amazing though.
Merantau was a good story, not just an action flick. "War of the Arrows" was ridiculous, but I have a feeling that it was a "re-make" of Apocalytpo, which was a classic.
Iron Monkey also is pretty much a classic and the Ong Bak series changed the genre to allow for movies like Merantau and and Raid: Redemption.
Five Deadly Venoms is one of the all-tine greats. Old School....
If anybody liked the Professional, I'd recommend "The Man from Nowhere". It's on net-flicks right now.
You ever want to go way back in time, check out
The Chinese Connection
I'm sure you've seen it already, but just saying...
Ever seen "Moon Warriors"?
Haven't seen Moon Warriors, but of course, the Chinese Connection was an all-time classic. The re-makes are great also. Fist of Legend with Jet Li, and Donnie Yen did one called the Return of Chen Zhen.
Moon Warriors does not rank with the best, but it's fun anyway.
I think it shows the director's skills as much as anything.
I just though of another really old one...lol...Enter the Dragon
Not sure, it may have been the one with the mirror scene
