There is some kind of ranking or voting that goes on for Govs. At one time she was indeed at the top of the list of this ranking or voting. She has fallen since she has been selected for VP.

I have no idea how official or what criteria was used for that ranking/vote.

At one point this year, she had a popularity rating, in Alaska, of 85%, which made her the most popular Governor.

I don't know what her rating is at this moment, or where it ranks, but that's where he's getting the line from.

I'd bet though, if you were to do a poll and ask people who their favorite Governor was, outside of their own state, Palin would be a good bet to come in first. The only others might be Schwarzenegger and Jeb Bush.

But for all three, that's mostly because most people couldn't name a governor to save their lives. :laugh2:

McCain knows deep down in places you don't talk about at parties that he F'd up Big Time by picking Palin.

But obviously he's never going to even give an inch to that thinking.

When you have to say well she's the most popular Governor in the USA...you know you got less than nothing.

This is what she is to McCain...

Picking her is pretty much the only redeeming thing he's done in this election.

Once he's faded off into the sunset, she'll get to rise or fall on her own merits, then we'll see her true measure.

All I know is that if he'd have followed his true feelings and selected Lieberman, he'd be around 30% right now.

Divide the ranking of the state (using number of residents, not square miles) by their Governors' Hotness.

So, Ruth Ann Minner (Del) with her population of 864,764 divided by her hotness factor of 2 would equal a "432,382"

Now, Sarah Palan (Alaska) wither population of 683,478 divided by her hotness factor of 8 would equal a "85,434.75"

Now as everybody knows, the closer to "1" you are......the better (More Popular) you are.

What does it mean when you have to try to remove your running mate's foot from his mouth after he suggests our enemies are anxious to pounce all over your glaring inexperience?

What does it mean when the Person running for VP gets stumped by a Third grader and gets the VP job description wrong?

Sarah Palin stumped by third grader, doesn't know what the vice president does

She's contending for arguably the second most powerful title in the country - if not the world. But it seems Sarah Palin could use a brush-up on the vice-president's job description.

Asked by an elementary school student what a vice president does, Republican candidate Sarah Palin responded that the vice president is the president's "team mate" but also "runs the Senate" and "can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes."

While aimed at a typical 8-year-old, Palin's explanations oversimplify the U.S. Constitution's definition of the duties of the vice president and don't match the office's traditional role in Senate activities.

The vice president's main duty is to replace the president if the president dies, resigns, is removed from office or can no longer carry out his or her duties for other reasons. The Constitution names the vice president as the president of the Senate but allows the vice president to cast a vote only to break a tie.

The vice president, as a member of the executive branch of the government, has no official role in developing legislation or determining how it is presented to or debated by the Senate, which is part of the legislative branch. In all meaningful ways, the leader of the majority party runs the Senate.

Traditionally, the vice president appears in the Senate for ceremonial events and in case of a tie vote. Although the vice president can preside over the Senate, vice presidents have left that day-to-day chore to senators themselves. In the past, each president has determined the role of the vice president in an administration.

The subject of the vice president's duties came up as Palin sat for an interview with KUSA-TV in Denver, which has a feature called "Question from the Third Grade." The interviewer asked, "Brandon Garcia wants to know, 'What does the vice president do?'"

"That's a great question, Brandon, and a vice president has a really great job, because not only are they there to support the president's agenda, they're like the team member, the team mate to that president," Palin said.

"But also, they're in charge of the United States Senate, so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom. And it's a great job and I look forward to having that job," she said.

I think what they mean by that is she's the most popular among the voters in her home state...

Of course, the biggest reason she's so popular is she gave each man, woman and child in Alaska an extra 1200 bucks last year, on top of their regular dividend check they receive each year...

That's right, Sarah Barracuda passed out over 800 million bucks to her constituents last year, above and beyond what they expected to receive... that'll make you REAL popular...

But here's an interesting little factoid-- since being named to be the GOP's Vice Presidential candidate, her approval rating in Alaska has dropped from 81 per cent to 64 per cent... seems they didn't know a lot of things that the media dug up on her, LOL...

Uhhh, Jeb's not governor any more... Charlie Crist is... and he's real popular too...

Again, I think the popularity we're talking about here is popularity within each governor's home state... with his or her constituencies...

She'd best start educating herself if she wishes to remain on the national stage...

Back before Palin was nominated, I said that I thought McCain's best option was to go with a Palin or a Bobby Jindal... I believe I even said it in here...

But that was before the media started digging into her record... for openers, I learned how this professed conservative took a town that had 5000 people and a budget surplus, and left it with a 22 million dollar DEFICIT... and what did the people of Wasilla get for their money?? Did they get the waste treatment plant they desperately needed?? Nope, Sarah Barracuda gave them a shiny new 15 million dollar SPORTS FACILITY, i.e., an indoor hockey rink...

Then I learned how she fired the town librarian (then reversed herself a day later when the town got outraged)... her reason?? She didn't think that librarian would be LOYAL enough to her... since when did political allegiances become an important criterion for a freakin' LIBRARIAN?? I guess she didn't like it when she asked the librarian in question if she'd remove books from the shelves if Palin asked her to, and the librarian responded with an emphatic no...

Then there was Troopergate... that one has proven to be quite the embarrassment for the campaign, hasn't it??

No, Danny, I can't agree with you that picking Palin as his running mate was one of McCain's smarter moves... indeed, I have to side with the majority on that one, it was one of his worst decisions...

He should have tapped Crist, then at least he'd know that he had Florida in his pocket...

Am I the only one who was disgusted when she actually winked at us during the VP debate??

Here's a woman who wants us to make her Vice President, and she's freakin' flirting to try to close the deal... yeah, that'll really sway my vote...

It means that Biden's a gaffe machine... he always has been, and always will be... Obama knew that going in... LOL...

Of course, SOME of us knew the point he was TRYING to make, that when he is tested, Obama will show us all that he has steel in his spine...

And sooner or later, ALL Presidents, now matter how experienced or inexperienced, is tested in that way...
