MIAMI – One of the bright spots in the Cowboys’ loss to the Dolphins on Thursday night was the play of veteran guard Montrae Holland.

In his preseason debut after missing the first three games with a back injury, Holland started at left right guard in place of Kyle Kosier.

Holland impresses Jerry Jones with stamina in first preseason outing

Montrae Holland played for the first time in the preseason Thursday night, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the veteran guard showed good stamina.

“Holland surprised me with how many snaps he took tonight,” Jones said. “We were playing that by ear. He came on back. He killed them. He wasn’t even breathing heavy after 20 snaps. He was ready for more. He’s in condition.”

Note, if you listened to jerry jones last night, reason why they kept holland, even though he came into camp overweight, they wanted a big presence on offensive line to help the center out, since most centers get help from OG.

And most TEAMS know that we are a little light in the butt at Center and the other Guard spot. Even with Montrae, stunts are going into BOTH GAPs next the Center so that he wont' get much help anyway. I saw Nagy get beat badly by Odrick (a rookie) and Tyrone got dogged by LB'ers by going inside of him. So, I expect the Jets to just 'kick off' in our O-Line butts in the first game much like the Chargers ran and passed over us so easily.
