I've heard some amazing stories about Nelson. Including the time he went out on a practice range and continually nailed the flag stick from 100 yards away. What's probably the most amazing aspect to me is that both he and Ben Hogan worked and played at the same golf club growing up as kids.

“Golf is a lot like life. When you make a decision, stick with it.” - Byron Nelson

Exactly right, trick... a man who was revered in the golf world, a true gentleman competitor... you might even fairly call him the elder statesman of the game...

As for his golf game, well, let's just say his swing was so pure, so fundamentally sound, that when they devised an artificial golf ball striking machine (to test clubs and balls), they called it "Iron Byron"...

Oh man, I hate hearing this. I always loved seeing him make his appearance at the Byron Nelson classic. What a gentleman of the game. Imagine how good he might have been if ranching hadn't been his aim.
