It would be a shorter tenure than Parcell's. Holmgren would not last two years. Mike would be a good consultant though.

Youth and more desire to coach longer. Holmgren would be a 2-3 year retread IMO

Ah...ok. You were saying that Gruden would be a better fit for the Cowboys.

    Got you.

I thought you were of the opinion that Gruden was a better coach period...which I would disagree with.

I agree, but when he was solely an OC he was a damn good one. He clearly never took the playcaling and headcoaching class in Princeton, and it shows that it's too much for him to handle. Give him one or the other and bring in someone to fill the vacancy

What did Holmgren or Ryan do for Cleveland?

Holmgren didn't coach the Browns. So I agree let's not hire him as President, let's get him as a coach.

I think part of why he would do it is there is still a lot of "prestige" with being the Dallas Cowboys Head Football Coach, even though that has been tarnished with some of the coaches we have had lately.

But I think that is part of it, to add to his legacy or tombstone whatever, that he coached the Cowboys, and the paycheck.

I think even though he coached the Packers who are similar.

What did Bill B. in New England do in Cleveland? And last I checked we were talking about Mike Holmgren the HC not Mike Holmgren the GM.

No, no not at all. Holmgren is much more seasoned and experienced, but Gruden has the long-term upside IMO.

Hence why I was responding that Holmgren in the Browns really doesn't count as far as coaching.... it was a President/GM position. Not the same thing.

I am pro Holmgren, so not sure what you're on me about...

Holmgrem would be a huge upgrade to what we have now. He more than likely would have won the SB with two different teams if not for some of the most crooked officiating in history.

The argument can be made that Holmgren had Favre and Bellichick has Brady. I don't see Holmgren as a plus to the Cowboys. I'd rather see Norv as the OC.

Not picky, Holmgren, Chucky, both would cause Jerry to talk/coach less for a couple season at the least.:D

Except Mike Holmgren was successful with Matt Hasslebeck as well.

Well, he was pretty good. He's 64 now, and his record at Cleveland should have been better even if he wasn't HC. I don't see the plus side for his being HC for us. Maybe an adviser.

We could have him if we want him, and Jerry is going to stay with JG? No way.

None of this will make an ounce of difference as long as Jerry Jones is still the GM.

Give Brian Kelly the authority that Jimmy Johnson had, have Jerry Jones sit in the box, and I'll be excited. Otherwise, it's just re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
