Woohoooo! & a good one too.
Converted safety. Looks like another Ernie Sims. is a coverage guy. Probably brought in primarily on 3rd downs
Kiffin likes for safties at OLB, and he just drafted one.
NFL COMPARISON Chad Greenway
BOTTOM LINE After starting 14 games at strong safety in his first three seasons, Holloman moved to the “Spur” hybrid position for 2012, showing off his ability to lay the wood and move in coverage. If teams he can show well on special teams and hold his own against NFL linemen against the run, Holloman could be a solid Saturday draft pick as a Sam 'backer, and a likely candidate to outplay his draft position.
kiffin likes former safties at LB
Convert back to safety........ala Darren Woodson
Backup to Barry Church
Better than Magee. Bigger size
He's coming in with a chip on his shoulder.
He's PISSED about being drafted so late.
DeVonte Holloman ‏@HolloMan21 56m
I will never forget this feeling...HELL TO PAY!
He is nearly 250lbs

Note: Holloman has an arrest for DUI on his record while attending South Carolina.

Another candidate for #Cowboys Sam LB. Holloman started SC career @ safety. Has a lot of experience covering TEs.
They just mentioned the DUI on The Fan. Hopefully, that's behind him.
As a Gamecock fan, I watched this guy play regularly. He is super talented, instinctive, lays the wood, and will do very nicely in that defensive backfield. This has been an extremely solid draft. You can arguably pinpoint value at every position.
DeVonte Holloman has no similarities to Ernie Sims, physically.
You can except #1. We also didn't cover all our more pressing needs. Besides that, we got value through 6 but it seems to be the 'best available' approach..
Woodson 4.4 forty
DeVonte Holloman 4.7 forty
They should leave Holloman at LB.
He's modest. The Fan asked him if he's a hard hitter. He said (paraphrase) Let's just say I'm a consistent tackler with the potential to be a hitter (/paraphrase).
Happened in 2011. His nose has been clean ever since.
WAS an Eagles fan..
He moves really, really well for a 240 pound LB.
He appears to play very alert to the ball and made some really good plays on tipped balls that most of the people on our defense have been dropping or missing.
He also appears to be a very good tackler who takes good tackles and wraps people up to bring them to the ground.
I really like what I see from him and I can see him becoming a contributor in the nickel and STs as he fights to get some field time at Sam over time.
I think we got really good value here on the 3rd day between Holloman, Webb and Randle. That's an unusually good 3rd day I think but only time will tell how these guys do.
Aww... It's like we rescued a puppy from an animal shelter. I feel better about this draft.
