Lifted from CoachHodnett from the Ranch...

    - T.O. never had a hammy problem and that is why he is so slow to get back to practice.
    - Expects T.O. to practice tomorrow.
    - T.O. and Bledsoe need to get more work together.
    - Both Starting WR's are over 30 and are more likely to get hurt.
    - If Hammy lingers for a while, people will begin to question why T.O. didn't work out with team in the offseason and do the things Parcells wants his players to do.
    - Belives this is no big deal and that the Hammy is just playing mind games with T.O.'s head.

    Offensive Line

    - No question, Flo is the starter at LT against the Jags.
    - Moved Pettiti over to LT because he's probably going to be the swing Tackle (playing both positions).
    - Marc Columbo is starting RT as of now.
    - Flo could be back with first team on Monday.
    - Columbo has been biggest surpise on the line mainly because no one expected much.
    - Pettiti changed his body, but it has to show on the field too.
    - Fabini's only chance on the roster is if Parcells believes he's better in games than practice.
    - Would be suprised if Fabini made the final roster.
    - Fabini could be a guy that, if needed during the season, Bill could bring him back (Similar to Adrian Murell a few years back).

    - Ellis looks better than anyone thought he would at LB.
    - Wouldn't know Kieth Davis had a bullet in his leg.
    - Has been playing great so far, but may lose job to Watkins.
    - Weakness at FS has turned into competition which will make it better.
    - Coleman has been playing a good at CB and Safety.
    - Parcells finally has LBs he likes.
    - Carpenter has been playing more inside due to Ellis playing well.
    - Carp had 2 sacks in 3 plays in scrimmage.
    - Parcells wants to get Carp on the field as much as possible.

    - Fasano has made quickest transition.
    - Fasano and Witten have been most productive offensive players in camp.
    - Both Julius and Barber can really play.
    - Bill wants to split carries between them, based on who's the hot runner.
    - If Julius is playing well, he will keep taking reps, and vice versa.
    - You don't need a main back in today's NFL.
    - There are very few 30 carry backs in the League and Bill doesn't want to wear down either of his backs.

I really wish signing bonuses where contingent on players making the team... If Fabini doesn't make the team thats 1.75 million wasted....

I was for the signing of Fabini because I just didn't have much faith in Pettiti being a starting tackle in this league. I was worried when fabini showed up lame, but I'm relieved that Colombo has stepped up. Again, there's no shame in finding a backup swing tackle in the 6th round. There's just something missing with Pettiti ... his feet and balance are just off.

I'm glad Columbo is stepping up. A nice surprise.

Most OL guys need some time to develop. If Pettiti becomes this year's backup swing tackle, it doesn't mean he's destined to remain a backup. He's only going to get better over the next few seasons.

interesting -- other reports had Columbo not playing well in the scrimmage.

I think the organization panicked as did several people on this board. The chant was, "Sign Fabini!". Some clearer headed folks didn't think the guy was anything special when he as either young or uninjured.

Great job snagging former 1st rd pick Columbo as a reclamation project.

Fabini? We needed the former Jets OT from the offseason of 2 years ago.

Great news about Columbo. I would rather go younger than older (Fabini) not just on the line but anywhere on the roster.

Soooooo...lemme guess. And really, just a guess, a shot in the dark,.

You really didn't think Fabini was anything special and didn't want him, right?

I wonder about this whole Petitti being the swing man thing. Isn't Columbo a LT? If indeed Columbo did start at RT, I think if Flo went down, Columbo would go to LT and Petitti would be our RT. However, I still am not so sure that Columbo isn't just getting a really hard look at RT right now and that Petitti may still be our RT. You just never know what Parcells is doing in preseason. We will find out soon enough.

I think BP is more worried about who to start at LT for the preseason until Flo is ready(and keep Bledsoe from being killed). Pettiti just happened to be the choice.

Guess I got my answer about why Carpenter is playing inside so much. If Ellis is playing then who is not playing well on the inside that has Carpenter there instead of switching on and off with Ellis at OLB?
Dont want to be too much of a downer but I cant believe that Elllis is playing SO well at OLB that he will be an answer out there, even for the start of the season. Could this be just "happy" talk to get a rise in trade value?

:laugh1: Funny stuff. Please explain what the downside of signing Fabini was? He was insurance against an injury, insurance against Petitti/Columbo not stepping up, and another option if he played well. His contract was modest. It was/is a smart decision. So far he hasn't shown much but it may be a result of his injury, although supposedly he did ok in the scrimmage. I'll wait to see how he does in the game Saturday before I pass judgement.

No - he is actually probably getting more reps because he has a higher learning curve to get good at the position than Carpenter.

Also, I am sure that Parcells wants him to be confident in his ability.

I think you'll see a lot of subbing with our LBers this season - starters won't mean much.
