    Cowboys anticipate offers on draft day
    Jones believes trading down is an option for Dallas on Thursday.

    ARLINGTON — Jerry Jones is keeping a close eye on the quarterback prospects in the NFL draft, but it isn't because he thinks the Dallas Cowboys need one.

    The Cowboys own the ninth overall pick. With four to seven quarterbacks expected to be among the first 40 picks and the uncertain labor situation expected to spark more trades than usual higher in the first round, Jones is certain his phone will ring frequently Thursday.

    Indeed, he acknowledged at a news conference Tuesday that he's already received more than two inquiries.

    “The bottom line is we do expect some interest and would be surprised if we did not have some interest,” Jones said. “The way the evaluations are playing out, the way the quarterback thing is looking uniquely in this draft, all of those things could come into play. It has the real potential to be a pretty attractive situation.”

    The run on quarterbacks could begin with Carolina selecting Cam Newton No. 1 overall. Blaine Gabbert could also be a top-10 pick.

    Jake Locker, Ryan Mallett, Christian Ponder, Colin Kaepernick and TCU's Andy Dalton are other passers who could go on the first day...
