    Injury-depleted Cowboys take it easy

    With Tony Romo and five other offensive starters sidelined, Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett acted prudently and downgraded Thursday's practice to a non-contact affair.

    The Cowboys (1-1) usually kick off their week of preparation for the next game in pads, but a rash of injuries forced the coach to require only shorts, shells and helmets for the first workout this week. Dallas, which opens its home schedule Monday night against Washington (2-0), was off Tuesday and Wednesday.

    "We've got a lot of guys banged up and evidently we needed (a light workout)," linebacker Bradie James told the club's website.

    "I never thought Jason Garrett would give us anything off, but I'm happy he did."...
